i have not been to this hotel yet but me and my friends are attending the hotel this saturday on a school ski trip :)
The reviews sound real positive and i am really looking foward to coming. I would really like to see the hotel pictures but dont no how to find them any help ?? x -

This hotel is used for school ski trips, and hence the bedrooms & general decor are a little like a hostel.Bunk beds in the bedrooms & limited comforts. Bedding tired but very clean
Bathroom was small, just a shower( no bath)- & lets just say it wasnt a power shower!
It is 2 star- but overall the bedroom was warm & clean & surprisingly comfortable.
Communal areas were fine and kept very clean.
Hotel had a lounge/ bar area- with Sky TV & an open log fire. internet access. reasonably priced drinks.
The hotel is located in a dip- and hence a set of steps to walk to the main road & onward up the the main bubble lift- tests the legs each morning.
Any doubts I had on arrival were soon quashed by the great staff- they are a young team and are friendly, enthusiasic & professional.They issued skis etc at 2am in the morning to allow for skiing first thing on our first day.
The food, as stated by other reviews,was obviously produced on a budget , but effort to make the best possible and plenty of it. Special effort by the chef Alan to cater for special requests- .Again a buffet was provided on the day of arrival - even though it was 1am..
Vars is a small resort & due to lift closures we had limited skiing- difficult therefore to rate.
Overall we had a good holiday & it will be remembered for the great atmosphere generated by the staff.

If I'm honest the Hotel itself needs refurbishment, the room we had was very basic but functional. If you need creature comforts then look elsewhere however if you're interested in Skiing or indeed Boarding as myself and my friends are then you need not worry.
The Manageress and all her staff to a person did everything to make our time there enjoyable. They even took time to show us the best ski areas in their free time and they were extremely friendly and polite. The Chef did wonders with the food (and there was always plenty of it) on an obviously tight budget.
The ski area itself was oustanding and in my opinion was the best I've been to due to its incredible amount of offpiste and the ease of access to it.
Everyone we spoke to in the hotel agreed that any shortcoming of the hotel itself was far outwayed by the Staff and their attitude and the resort itself.
All the local bars and restaurants were friendly and the on piste food was good.
As with most European resorts these days its not cheap, but if you Board or Ski regurlarly you'll already know that.
The lift pass was reasonable 150 euros for 6 days.
All the lifts were in operation whilst we were there and its incredibly hot when the sun is out. Which is most of the time by the way.
There is a fairly long transfer ours was almost 4hours from Grenoble but we hit traffic due to a delay on the flight.
All in all I'd definitely go back especially if I thought the same people were running the hotel.
We as a group would like to thank Jayney, Mike and all the staff especially Sam the Chef and would undoubtably recommend it to friends.

After reading the only review on the Franou I was alittle concerned to say the least, however to say the faults in the hotel are greatly oversated is the understatement of the year.
Yes the hotel is basic,but the rooms all have seperatre bathrooms and wardrobe/storage facilities, good beds with very clean sheets, which were made each day by hotel staff. The decor could do with up dating but it was all clean and smart. The Staff were excellent, helping with everything you could need (coming into town to help with translation etc).
The food we were served was of exceptional quality and the waiting service first class.
I have skied in europe for over 20 years at least twice a year and I can say hand on heart that this is the best value holiday I have ever been on. don't expect 5* Merible accomadation because it isn't ,however it is exceptional value for money.
The ski area is very good for all abilities offering a blue , red or black at the top of near all lifts, it has the longest freestyle park I have ever been in and the best access to off piste I've ever come across ,the lifts could do with updating as some are slow but there are very few people here so no queues.
Now the best bit the holiday cost £300 pounds all in including pass and food and transfer.
Please don't go here as I would like to keep it a secret for me and my mates.
