“Great value, good location, friendly staff”

Based on reading reviews of this hotel's old days as a Best Western, it has definitely turned a new leaf. Lobby and breakfast area looked recently remodeled. The room looked almost completely new within the last year or so, great bed, soft towels, newer looking furniture, fridge, microwave. Extra vanity area outside the bathroom, plenty of counter space. Room was big, and had a balcony with chairs...overlooking Lake Mead! Great value for a room with a view, and perfectly located between the heart of Boulder City and Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam, less than 5 minutes to any of those places.

The staff was great as well. The front desk let us check in 20 minutes early, and was quick to dispatch help when our door stuck and we couldn't get in the room. She even offered free fruit leftover from the morning's breakfast! My only gripe...the selection of tv channels was pretty limited.

Don't go by some of the older reviews...give this place a chance! I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms in the back building face the lake, as for the second or third floor if you want a view...

“Very Cheap”

I should have realised by the price that I was taking a chance. We booked for the location, and Hoover Dam and Lake Mead were fantastic.
When we arrived the air conditioning was not on, despite the 100+ temperature, and it took until the early hours of the following morning for the room to cool down, by which time I had not had any sleep! I booked a room with a spa, but this looked very old, and none too clean, so we did not use it. The breakfast (I think this is what they called it) is not worth the effort. Apart from the convenient location, boulder city was a very short drive, and there were some nice restaurants. As you can tell I was not very impressed.

“Extremely mediocre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2011

This is a 1960s style hotel that was undergoing mild renovations when I stayed there.

The pluses:
-Large rooms.
-Probably the only hotel in town with a view of Lake Mead.
-The carpet and bed in my room looked new, and the room had been repainted recently.

The minuses:
-The office was closed for renovation, and it was extremely hard to find the temporary office (it's in a nearby building with a fake lighthouse on it).
-Overall, the site looks run down. For example, the landscaping is seedy.
-I was told I had a "ground accessible" room, but I still had to climb nine steps to get to it.
-There was no phone in the room.
-Mattresses and rolls of carpet (apparently for the renovation) were piled in the parking lot, on the ground.

Not a terrible stay, but understand that you're getting a budget hotel with very few frills.

The hotel was in the midst of redecorating and exterior painting, soon to be associated with Choice Hotels. Spacious room, but loud air conditioner and slow to cool down. Lovely view of the lake. Friendly staff and good rate.

Room Tip: ask for a view room, end of building, 2nd floor
