“Perfect for a romantic getaway”

My wife and I have been regular visitors to Milo's wine bar in Boulder City for years, and had vaguely noticed that there was an inn associated with the place. However, it was not at all clear where the inn actually was. Finally we asked about it, loved the sound of it, and booked a night's stay as a getaway.

You enter the inn through an inconspicuous door in the restaurant (another entrance is available for after-hours use) - into another world. The rooms are few in number, entirely individual, and luxurious without being pretentious. The open onto a central atrium painted gorgeous shades of ocher and purple, focused by a large pool with a fountain (plus two turtles that sometimes go walkabout in the courtyard). Chairs, tables and benches provide places to lounge and relax, and a firepit provides warmth on winter nights. Or, the rooms are more than lovely enough to lounge in. Do what comes naturally.

Breakfasts are included, and are excellent, served in the cellar at Milo's Wine Bar. We had vegetarian omelets that are among the best we've had anywhere, and the coffee (locally roasted) was superb.

Milo's Inn is a perfect, secluded and beautiful retreat. If you're in the neighborhood, try it out. Or if you're visiting Las Vegas, give yourself a treat and make the short trip to Boulder City for an entirely different experience. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Any room is excellent. Ask the staff when booking to describe them.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Milo's was our last night on a 16 night road trip around South West USA. It was the perfect ending for our honeymoon. Just 4 rooms, we booked the Tuscany. We found it easily with Sat Nav and checked-in easily through the wine bar. Our room was off an outside courtyard with a fish pond and waterful, lovely! The room was was very spacious and comfortable, huge bed and a double jacuzzi bath!
We had dinner outside the wine bar with excellent wine and local beer.
The next morning Ana served our huge breakfast in the courtyard beside the fishpond! Again, it was perfect, so much food! Fresh fruit, freshly baked croissants, cereal, meats, cheeses and freshly baked cake all served with freshly squeezed orange juice and excellent coffee.
Thank you Ana for a lovely ending to out honeymoon.

“Just perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

When we travel (without kids) we like to just go where it takes us so we happened upon this Milo's totally by accident. It was love at first site. The courtyard is the perfect place to relax after traveling all day. We met some wonderful local folks in the wine bar, complete with
somillier, then retired to a wonderful private room. Breakfast was wonderful and generous. We even borrowed their bicycles for a quick tour around Boulder City in the morning. We'll be back :-)

“Fun, quiet place -- a hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

This charming out-of-the-way B&B with only four rooms was a wonderful find. I came there by accident due to a mix-up in reservations at another hotel in Boulder City and was sent as an overflow guest to Milo’s Inn without even ever having heard of it before. I ended up being glad for the overbooking at the other place, because Milo’s was a true delight. I landed in the “Chianti Room,” just opposite an interior courtyard pond where one can sit outside and watch turtles and koi. The rooms are located upstairs, but the inn sits on a slight hillside, so that the rear of the property's second floor opens onto an alleyway and street with ample free parking (no need to carry luggage upstairs). To reach the courtyard from the front of the place on Nevada Way, one passes through the wine café downstairs and goes up one flight. (Don’t look for a lobby, because there isn’t one, just ask in the cafe.) I enjoyed the unexpected seclusion, including one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. As the name of the rooms imply, the owner is a wine connoisseur, and the amenities in my room were emblematic of the prioritization of pleasure at Milo’s Inn: There’s a large jetted spa tub, a gas fireplace, a wine chiller (instead of a coffeemaker) . . . and on the theory that you won't need to keep track of time, they just didn’t even bother to put a clock in the room. Cool.

Breakfast downstairs was personally prepared by the friendly proprietor, Eric, and was very good. I appreciated that it was served over a broad spread of morning hours to accommodate early and late risers; however, without any pressure at all, he does appreciate some indication of when you might be downstairs so that he can plan each meal individually.

The restaurant affiliated with the B&B has street café seating in a lovely covered sidewalk arcade, as well as indoor seating. The Tuscan-inspired food was excellent and not terribly expensive, and the sommelier is a very knowledgeable woman who was fun to talk to about my food-wine matches. It turned out to be more price effective to pay the corkage fee for a bottle of wine, rather than order it by the glass, even though I wasn’t intending to drink a whole bottle, and it was no problem to take it upstairs to my room to finish later. There are also a variety of other restaurants and a brewpub within easy walking distance.

I had read about Boulder City in the travel section of my local newspaper and decided to overnight there while on a road trip through the West. It’s very convenient to Hoover Dam, which I toured one morning. (Well worth the full admission price, but get there early to avoid the crowds.) The town originated in the late 1920s as a place to house workers who built the dam, and it retains its historic charm. Boulder City is scarcely 20 miles from Las Vegas, and I noticed that most of my fellow guests at Milo's actually lived in Vegas but came there on the weekend to escape the commotion. I think of Boulder City as an anti-Las Vegas—quiet, clean, no gambling, no traffic. I had fun poking around some of the local antique shops, and there’s also an interesting historical museum inside the nearby Boulder Dam Hotel.

Milo’s Inn is probably set up more for couples on get-away trips than for single travelers, but I was made to feel very comfortable there, and if circumstances repeat themselves, I would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Some rooms have more natural light than others.

“...hidden and unexpected, like much of what makes Boulder City worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2011

...my hubs and I found the Inn through one of the B&B sites online and we're SO glad we decided to book a night's stay there in Boulder City. Connected to/located next to Milo's Best Cellars, most people wouldn't know the Inn is there...the 'check-in desk' is tucked in next to the bar area where there is also a coffee shop/French bakery selection (colorful macaroons!) and the Inn/guest rooms are through a doorway, around a corner, through another door and up a set of stairs -hidden and unexpected. Eric the Innkeeper walked us up to the beautiful shared courtyard (he even has bicycles there if you want to pedal around town) and gave us a tour before showing us to our room...he was super-pleasant and great conversation the next morning during breakfast (coffee, tea, orange juice, homemade granola, fresh and dried fruit, almond milk, yogurt, a delicious 'southwestern' baked omelette with homemade mango or chipotle salsa, avocado and a corn tortilla...yum!).
...we aren't from the Las Vegas area/Nevada but we will definitely book another night or two at the Inn in Boulder City if we have the opportunity to again -thanks Eric!

(...the double whirlpool tub in our room was fantastic too, but if you like to take a 'stand up' shower in the morning, book a room with a marble-lined shower instead.)
