We arrived to find one of our two rooms with no towels, shampoo, etc. The other had no table, chairs, fridge or microwave! They eventually brought a fridge (which froze everything overnight) and a microwave. We stayed 2 nights and there was NO service in between - beds not made, clean towels not provided. When we complained they said that MOST of the rooms cleaned were those for guests checking out!

Long House Alaskan Hotel is located close to the airport but not far from downtown Anchorage. It is built as a large log house which resembles Alaskan wildlife though located in the city. Rooms were well furnished, nice and clean. We liked it there.

We stayed at this hotel for one night after flying in to Anchorage and before going to Whitter to get on a cruise ship. We were not expecting too much because we had read the reviews and knew it was not going to be all that great. They picked us up at the airport, which was great. We checked in and there was one poor girl woking in the entire place. She was answering phones, letting people into the cooler to store thier fish, and answering any questions from the guests. She handled it all well, but the quality of service was not there becace she was pulled in so many directions.

The room was interesting. It reminded me of my college dorm room. No Air conditioning/heating unit, just a oscellating fan. The room was clean for the most part, but there was a nest of sorts along one wall for some type of animal/insect. There also was a few spiders.

We did not have a car, so we walked to the near by diner for dinner.
Two pluses about the hotel, the water pressure was awesome and the free breakfast was pretty good also.
If you don't expect too much this would be an okay hotel for you to stay at.

The temperature was around 80F and when asked how to turn on the air conditioner, we
were told to open the windows. 2 of the 4 windows did not have screens and we were on
the 1st floor (very unsettling security wise). We were given a standing fan which helped but
did not rotate and noisy. Our friends were given an upstairs room (no elevator) and we had
to help them carry 3 large bags and a couple of carry ons. There was a sofa and a chair
in their room which smelled of sour body odor and was clearly old and dirty. The manager
moved them next door to a smaller room (less smelly) and gave them a fan too. We had
taken a train to Anchorage and was told the hotel provided free shuttle service (I also
confirmed this by phone when I was booking the reservation) but when we called, we
were told that was incorrect and so we took a taxi $14.00 per couple. There were
brochures on the counter which still showed free shuttle service and the manager said
it was discontinued and took them away. The staff (1) was pleasant but we will never
stay there again. Only eating place around is Subway (about 2 blocks).
