“Worst ever hotel though we were treated well by manager”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

We stayed at this location in last week of July during our Alaska sightseeing tour. This hotel I by far the most terrible hotel I have lived in. We had booked three rooms for a large group and were appalled to see the inconveniences at every step of the way.

AC or room fan was not working. There was a particularly hot night and all they had was a portable ac one can get from home depot but *without hooking up the exhaust pipe*. that means ac was actually heating up the room rather than cool it.

No elevator to second floor. It does not exist.

Toilet door had locks forcefully removed in 2 of 3 rooms. Shower was so small that one coul not even stand in it.

Television did not work in 2 rooms. The manager replaced cable boxes and then tv sets until he got those to work.

Most importantly. There was no room cleaning service. We came back from a hectic day back to room to see beds not made, towels not replaced nor was the trash removed. This place does not support cleanup until you checkout. Go figure.

I have to say that the manager on duty was trying his best to help but things were beyond his control. We wanted to leave after first night so he agreed to not charge cancellation fees for next day. However we had to stay until alternative arrangement was made. We were told this place was apt complex turned into lodge......a very bad one.

I would not recommend this hotel even if it was offered for free.

“DO NOT STAY HERE!”

This is the worst hotel that I've ever stayed at. Our room smelled like smoke. There's no safety lock, the a/c was broken, the light was burnt out, there's no alarm clock or table lamp! You will not feel safe at this hotel. It's the most disgusting place! I even woke up to a couple fighting. This dump still cost me $96. They wouldn't refund my money either. THE WORST PLACE EVER! I REPEAT, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

“Cheapest hotel in Anchorage for a reason be advised you should read this before your booking”

We flew into Anchorage in the early hours of the morning we have made a reservation 4 months previous to our arrival. We booked this hotel because of its location, cheap rates and the main reason is because it provided a shuttle service to and from the airport. When we called the hotel they could not find our reservation. They then made a reservation on the spot for us. We asked if the shuttle could come and pick us up they told us that the shuttle was broken down and it would cost about 30 dollars in a cab to get there we told them that this was not good enough, that we had booked their hotel mainly on this service and that if they could not provide the service that we would have to cancel the booking. They could not do anything on the price so we asked to cancel the booking. The staff member Georgia who we spoke to told us it was no problem, we then asked if we would be charged for cancelling she told us that we would not be charged anything we double checked to make sure and she said that because we had no reservation on the system in the first place that it did not matter. We thanked her and ended the conversation. My partner then called another hotel who came out to pick us up we arrived at our newly booked hotel and waited to check in we checked in and paid for our room and then went to our room and off loaded our luggage had a shower and got ready to go see the sights when suddenly we got a phone call from the Econo Inn telling us that they would have to charge us in full for our cancellation. Keep in mind that this was an hour and a half later , they originally did not have a reservation on file and we had been assured twice by the employee Georgia that we would not be charged. We got very angry with this and ,so next morning we went all the way down town to speak to a manager. What we got instead was Eugene the "manager" who stayed seated in his chair in the back office behind the counter he explained there 24 hour cancellation policy to us and told us that we had been given the wrong information by his employee and that it was only her third day. we told him that this was irrelivant to us that we had been given this information by his staff and that she rang us back almost 2 hours after we had checked into our new hotel on based on the information she had given us. He then asked us why we would not pay $30 dollars for a cab. I told him we booked a cheaper hotel because we were not loaded with cash. He was rude and Georgia sat beside him and didnt say a word we had no appology nothing only a full night fee for a night we didnt stay on a booking that didnt exist !!!!!! I would call that theft but you can make up your own mind about that....... Oh also one last thing guys we wish we had have checked trip advisor before we made our booking we would have seen the comments that everyone else wrote " the shuttle bus was broken down when we called and we had to pay 30 dollars for a cab" makes me wonder if they even have one!!!!!! on that note its filthy in the lobby and the staff are very rude and dont know theyre own terms and conditions if you stay here your a fool :)

“Motel Hell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2010

Filthy halls & no maid service during the 4 nights I stayed there. The "Continental Breakfast" consisted of an ancient jumbo coffee pot. There was usually a homeless looking person sleeping on the couch in the common area when I got up and around. The police showed up one morning and arrested an intoxicated minor who had woke me up at 4:00 by repeatedly banging on the outside of the (my first floor room of course) building. The type of place where you are afraid to take off your shoes in the room until you get into bed and then you still want to keep your clothes and socks on. I was afraid to try the restaurant. There were about 6 parking spots in front. The first parking spot we pulled up to on the side had an abandoned (?) car with a rock through the windsheild so we moved.

“The worst customer service imaginable!”

I haven't stayed at the Econo Inn however I have never had such an unprofessional encounter. I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager and instead the employee falsely claim they were threatened. Their staff has no regard to our hard working APD and our officers. Shame on this establishment.
