We recently stayed at the Sourdough because most of the "chain" accommodations were sold out during the time we came to Anchorage and we wanted guaranteed accommodations on the night of our late arrival. It took more than one hour for the shuttle bus to pick us up at the airport---not much fun after a 14-hour flight. When we finally got to the room, it was a DIVE! The room smelled of dust and mildew, the carpets were filthy (old peanuts and wrappers still on the floor), and the so-called complete kitchen didn't even have a plastic cup in it. It was WAY overpriced at $119. Plus, it is located in the middle of no-where. The only available shop was a gas station convenience store across the street. Needless to say, we left early the next morning. Luckily we found much more affordable, clean, and comfortable lodging at the YUKON VISTA MOTEL for just $85 a night.
