“Sourdough Lodge 801 Erickson Street”

This place is set up to house air force base people for months at a time. It advertises as "your home away from home". If your home has peeling paint and really needs to be fixed up, than you might feel ok here. No dishes, no pans, even though you do have a kitchen. They say no smoking in the rooms, so outside of every door is a coffee can full of cigerette butts. The queen bed in our room was tilted to one side, broken. At least the sheets were clean! We paid $185.00 for a two bedroom. Definitely NOT worth that price. Kathy

We had a two bedroom "suite", which was really a shabby two bedroom apartment. The couch was so uncomfortable, you had to use your thin pillows from the bedroom to sit on it. The kitchen had no glasses. I'm glad we were there for only one night before our flight home. The only positive was a good restaurant recommendation (Smith and Seaforts) from the desk attendant.

“A very poor value”

We recently stayed at the Sourdough because most of the "chain" accommodations were sold out during the time we came to Anchorage and we wanted guaranteed accommodations on the night of our late arrival. It took more than one hour for the shuttle bus to pick us up at the airport---not much fun after a 14-hour flight. When we finally got to the room, it was a DIVE! The room smelled of dust and mildew, the carpets were filthy (old peanuts and wrappers still on the floor), and the so-called complete kitchen didn't even have a plastic cup in it. It was WAY overpriced at $119. Plus, it is located in the middle of no-where. The only available shop was a gas station convenience store across the street. Needless to say, we left early the next morning. Luckily we found much more affordable, clean, and comfortable lodging at the YUKON VISTA MOTEL for just $85 a night.
