“If it wasn't for the rain, we would have prefered a tent.”

We have stayed in Super 8 motels before, so we are aware of what this type of motel chain offers. We are campers who occasionally book into a hotel/motel when staying in a city or in times of inclement weather. The staff were unhelpful, bordering on rude. The room was so noisy that we had to wear ear plugs in order to sleep (outside noise such as traffic, constant dripping water) and the breakfast was dreadful. This is not a green motel. Every part of the breakfast was plastic/styrofoam and the mountain of garbage produced by the motel in serving very simple fare was disgraceful.

“Good for a post- or pre-flight stay”

We stayed in the Anchorage Super 8 on the evening our flight arrived in Alaska. The free shuttle from the airport to the hotel was prompt, and the driver was friendly and talkative.

The room was what you'd expect from a Super 8: small, clean, and presentable. The sole exception was the carpet, which was stained and could use a good cleaning. The price was high, but considering how expensive Alaska is overall, it was a relatively good deal, and easily the cheapest place we stayed during our entire trip.

The continental breakfast was good - again, nothing fancy, but it'll fill you up with plenty of carbs. The hotel is located right around the corner from a Thrifty / Dollar car rental place, which allowed me to simply walk over in the morning and pick up our car.

This is a great place to stay a night, but if you're planning on spending a number of days in Anchorage, you might want to open your wallet a little wider and find a nice B&B or slightly fancier hotel.

Staye dhere because it was cose to the airport, free shuttle, and for Anchorage a reasonable rate. That is what I got, a reasonable room, staff was helpful, Breakfast was a typical small Super 8 nothng fancy. If S8 is your standard stay here, if not spend more.

“Lots of money for a welfare hotel”

A friend of mine who works for the social services for the State of Alaska informed us after we spent a horrible and scary night in this spook house that it is a hotel which accepts welfare and people actually live there at the cost of the state. That answered a lot of questions about some "questionable" people wandering around.

This was one scary place. And for the same price, we got a room at the very wonderful Inlet Towers, which is a real hotel with clean beds, clean rooms, normal people who are on vacation and not living in the hotel.

This had to have been one of the worst places I have ever closed my eyes. Do not stay here. Be warned, do not stay here!

“overpriced indeed”

We stayed here for one night only, kind of a last minute reservation. The price? 140$ per night. Anywhere else in the USA, for that money, you'll get a super nice and clean hotel. Not in Anchorage! The room was smelly and the carpet was really sticky. Once we arrived at our floor (2nd floor) we were hit by a strong cigarette smell, which diminished, but did not disappeared after we entered our room (non-smoking room). I guess they will have to paint all the walls and change the entire carpet for that smell to go away. We kept our window opened all the time and we were OK. Good parts: the sheets looked clean and OK and the bathroom was kind of new. The shuttle to the airport is convenient. Breakfast is included (though minimal). Not a bad location, we used the People Mover buses to go down-town.
This hotel will cost around 50 - 60$ anywhere else, but not in Anchorage.
It really deserve 1 star, but this is Anchorage, so I will give 3 stars. Expect to pay around 200$ for a decent hotel or get a good deal way in advance. We also stayed for one night at Walkabout Town B&B, for 120$, much, much better (I recommend this B&B).
