What an aweful experience! I would not recommend this hotel to even the most seedy person I can imagine. For starters the hotel is stratigically located in downtown Ancharage, across the street from the bus terminal and right next to a "troubled youth detention facility". If that doesn't give you mental picture then this should. The hotel lobby has survalience equiptment and a kind of bullet proof glass...not what I want to see when checking in to a hotel. Not to mention the front desk "manager" told me that I didn't have a reservation (I booked online, had a confimation number printed out that he looked at like it was in an alien language). So, not having a reservation I decided to try my luck elsewhere in Anchorage (somewhere a little cleaner, friendlier and less nasty). To my dismay when I arrived home from my trip and checked my credit account online I was charged a "no-show" fee on my credit card. When I called the hotel to complain the front desk "manager" claimed he had never seen me on my check in day, that he was working the shift when I would have checked in and that he doesnt' remember me. The motel refused to refund the charges to my account. This is something that I will have to take up with my bank and the Better Business Buearu of Alaska obviously. If you are considering staying at this hotel ask yourself why they don't offer pictures of the accomidations online? And for god's sake don't take your kids here, there are drunks hanging around outside the hotel that verbally harrass you as you come and go and demand cash from you.
