“Hair Everywhere!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2008

The hotel was in a pretty good location, on the south side of town right on the Seward Highway. Our room was cute, like an efficiency apartment. Unfortunately, it was a "pet" room and the cleaning staff wasn't very thorough. We got cleaning stuff and cleaned the room ourselves the day we arrived. There was black animal hair everywhere, including on/in the beds. That is really a turnoff if you aren't used to having indoor pets. The room also had a peculiar odor.

“Okay place for the price!”

The Creekwood Inn is a decent place for the price. You could probably find a better value, but it would take some work.

The motel is pretty old so don't expect a "new" look. The laundry facilities are not well maintained which is my biggest complaint. Otherwise, the Creekwood Inn was one of the cheaper places in Anchorage. It's acceptable for the price, but don't expect much more.

“An affordable alternative?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2005

We chose the Creekwood Inn for a weekend visit because it offered affordable rates compared with other hotels in Anchorage and it had one very positive review on TripAdvisor. If you read their website, you would think that this motel was an ideal hideaway linked with greenspace near downtown. Unfortunately, the real picture is somewhat different. On the plus side, the motel was centrally located, had coffee and refrigerators, had spacious rooms and the rates were affordable. On the downside was the fact that despite the motel's advertisement of being quiet, the motel was directly over the flight path of local planes, had only cumbersome and costly internet access, and had no air conditioning or fans which was a problem during hot weather. The only ventilation that was available was through a window in the rear that provided cross-ventilation with an enclosed hallway in the front of the room, which was really no cross ventilation at all. Also, the greenbelt access was inconvenient and the adjacent trailer park left a lot to be desired. Overall, we would try to find a better "affordable" motel in the Anchorage area if we were to return.

“Cold Showers”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2005

We stayed at Creekwood Inn twice in June. First 3 nights we were in a hotel room--basic thin towel type--ok. The second time we stayed in their touted 'cabin', which appeared to be a disguised RV from the inside. The carpets were dirty, the blanket in the loft was cut up, there was no room service, and there was only enough hot water for one shower. Since there were 4 of us this was extremely inconvenient. When questioned about the water situation we were told the maintainence man would check it out. Same situation the second day, and we were told there was 'no problem'. Well, cold showers qualify as a problem to us, and we were very unsatisfied.

“Home Away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2003

We moved from Indianapolis to Anchorage mid-June 2003. We stayed at Hillside on Gambell while searching for permanent housing. Bearing in mind the Anchorage hotel market in the summer season, the prices were VERY reasonable. The furniture is older, but in good condition. The bathroom fixtures are in colors (blue, green, etc.) like from the 70's.
But everything is spotlessly clean, even the laundromat. The staff was wonderfully accomodating and very friendly. They allow guests to use the computer behind the desk to check email, etc., and there are connections for your own laptop. It is not a fancy hotel, no view, no pool. But for budget minded travelers it feels like home away from home.
