I believe that people were not being fair when they reviewed this hotel. I am a resident of Anchorage, and I put two of my visiting guests up in this hotel before reading these reviews. My first guest arrived, and the staff took very good care of him. They did forget about him at the airport (they provide a free shuttle), but they more than made up for it when he got to the hotel. The rooms were very clean, and the staff was wonderful to him.

My second guest arrived and was very hesitant at first because of an experience he had at a previous Days Inn. When he arrived, he was very impressed with the hotel. The room was very comfortable for him. The housekeeping staff was on top of it. Just as soon as he stepped outside of his room, the housekeeping staff made sure his room was clean when he walked back in.

I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel, and would put my friends in this hotel again. It was great!!. I believe that many reviewers were not being fair about this hotel at all. Perhaps they were looking for more. This hotel is located downtown, and is in walking distance to area attractions. The rooms are clean and have all the necessities that are needed. There's an iron and ironing board in the room. There's coffee and tea along with a coffee pot. There's a refrigerator and microwave. The beds are comfortable. The only thing I would change is the curtains. Other than that, this was a very nice hotel for my guests.

Location is great for easy walking access to downtown, the mall, museums, restaurants. This hotel is affordable in summer however I would not stay here again. As soon as I arrived I accosted by the homeless panhandlers. One was hungry but when I offer to buy food at the Counrty Kitchen he declined. Every time I walked out of the hotel the men that are lurking around the hotel would ask for money. I never once saw a police foot patrol in this area. There needs to be one for sure. The hotel desk is jaded to this problem. The people at the desk were nice but this hotel is worn and dated. I would not stay here again.

Location is great for easy access to downtown. Place is a little run down. Front desk has been "empowered" to do nothing. Any problems and you have to wait until a manager shows up the next day. I had prepaid for a 4 night stay. I wanted to extend it by one night. Rather than just adding a night and billing me the extra, they rebilled the entire stay at a higher nightly rate, then they credited my payment. The prepayment only covered 3 nights at the higher rate, so they wanted payment for 2 more nights. I advised the clerk at the desk. She said that she couldn't do anything about it, and I'd have to wait for the manager - the next morning. The manager adjusted the bill to one more night at the higher rate, plus a per day charge for the safe that is in the room. They just have to grab that extra revenue whether you use the safe or not! Next time I am in Anchorage, I won't be staying at the Days Inn. After I left, I also complained to Days Inn Corporate. I am guessing that this location is independent because they could not or would not do anything.

The Days Inn in Downtown Anchorage is an affordable place to rest. The staff was friendly. The rooms were dated and grungy, as is the location.

This place isn't the typical hotel I would stay in. I happened to be here with friends for a week of play in Anchorage. Would I go back? Not likely. Would I go back with my wife or other family members? NO.
