breakfast was pretty good, rooms were clean, nothing fancy, just average

We are a group of 4 and had stayed a night in a suite double with queen beds. It is a simple and standard inn near Teds Stevens international airport. We arrived at Anchorage after midnight and after we got our rental car, it was already past 1.30 a.m. Fortunately, the location of this inn was easy to find and we got there within ten minutes. We had a decent sleep and a free continental breakfast the next morning. No frills but good enough for a night stay.

This place has two buildings. If your room number begins with a 1 then you are in building 1, the newer building, and if 2 then building 2 the older building. We stayed two non-consecutive nights on the same trip and got to sample both buildings. Building 1 is fine but bulidng 2 has a foul smell beginning in the lobby all the way into the room. Our room was at then end of the building closest to the street, so it also had a fairly loud street noise that penetrated the windows. The room rate of building 2 was about half of building 1, so that should have been a tip off, but we were not given an option. When you book here, pick option #1!

Previous reviewers are right on - this place is a dump! We arrived at 1:00AM after a long flight. No rollaway in the room as we requested, it was nearly 2:00AM by the time it showed up. There is no air conditioning in this hotel - the room was hot and stuffy. We opened the window to get a breeze even though the screen was ripped. We woke to the sound of a car alarm, then yelling next door. The bathroom cauking was full of mildew and the tub did not drain. I took a shower only because we had been travelling for 10 hours straight the day before. The free breakfast is not in the hotel - you walk through an underground tunnel to another, even dumpier hotel across the street for breakfast. Expect to eat with an ecelectic mix of people as the other hotel seems to be some sort of hostel with weekly rates. Yuck. If you can afford it, pay the extra $ to stay at the Embassy Suites downtown. Otherwise, consider crashing at the airport until you pick up your car the next morning. Anchorage airport is very nice. Would not return.
