Staying at the Capt Cook hotel this week. Its been enjoyable. I was skeptical at first about upgrading to the Captains Deck Room. The size of the room is the same as a standard room, but you get access to the lounge, the excersize room and free self parking. The room runs about 20 dollars more a night. I think for those ammenities, it makes for a good value. I do wish the room had more square footage than a normal room. With two full beds it felt a little tight.
The lounge upstairs had good food, and good service. The food changes throughout the day and it was of good quality. The view is pleasant on a clear day.
The bathroom felt a bit outdated, but the height of the shower and the temperature was good.
I would stay here again. Pleasant service is hard to come by these days.
I think if i had to replan my trip I'd swing by during May, the tours and glacier viewings dont start until May and to come just a few weeks early felt like my options were limited. Rental car is strongly advised.
