We stayed twice at this B+B - in the middle and in the end of our trip to Alaska. We had two different rooms which varied quite a lot in size. First the Russian Room which was actually in the basement with just a small window looking underneath the outside stairs, the second time in the Piano Room which was much nicer and comfortable. It had an independent entrance from the outside - the last night someone entered our room without knocking the door (though we were quite sure we had locked it) saying "oh sorry I thought my friend is staying here". Really strange. We did not complain to the guests but only because it was our last day in Alaska so we did not really bother.
Overall, I cannot be so enthousiastic about this B+B like other reviewers. It was clean, the breakfast was regular, but the atmosphere was kind of... how to put it... artificially friendly. Actually we felt much better and much more welcome in all the other B+Bs we visited in Alaska. I can recommend it but I guess there can be a better deal in town...

Our hosts were most accommodating when we arrived early (just after breakfast). We were able to drop off our luggage & spend the rest of the day exploring the downtown area. Being within walking distance of that area, we were able to maximize our time. They also provided a bagged breakfast for the following morning when we caught a very early flight.

We had a wonderful stay at the Anchorage Walkabout Town. The breakfast was amazing and the cook Yuya was great! The Stimsons are wonderful hosts, very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, right next to the coastal trail and not far from town. With the free bike use it made for a GREAT trip! We could go out all day on the bikes and just enjoy Anchorage. We even saw a moose and her calf right on the trail! I would definitely recommend this Bed and Breakfast. If ever we get to come back to AK we know one place we will stay. :) Thanks a ton!

My family and another stayed here for 2 nights both before and after a 4 day canoe/backpack/camping trip into the Swan Lakes canoe system. Both stays were comfortable with wonderful breakfasts. It was like being at home with access to living room, kitchen and a washer and dryer which was heaven after our camping trip. We didn't need a car because we could walk or bike to downtown (many tourist sites), grocery & camping stores. Take advantage of the 8 bikes the B&B have for free use; their location is right on several bike trails winding all around Anchorage (I would recommend the Tony Knowles coastal trail). The location is great, the accomodations better and the cost reasonable. If you are going to Anchorage. this place is ideal!
