“Terrible night sleep”

I knew that it wouldnt be the nicest place to stay since it was the cheepest place I could find at the time, but this was the worst place I have ever stayed at. We just wanted somewhere to sleep, and we couldnt even get any good sleep here.
The worst part was that the walls are paper thin. I could litterally hear everything from people walking in the halls to the people talking in the next room. Even our 6 year old was quoting things she heard in the hall.
Also, the window blinds were not sufficient for the bright midnight sun, we had to put our blanket up to cover the window, and then it was freezing all night. the next night we found a space heater that made the room so rediculously hot that we couldnt breath. I was litterally in tears
I will never go back to this hote.

“not great but could be worse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2010

This hostel is a bit weird: the person in charge was only around once when I stayed there for 5 nights. Breakfast is provided, but be quick: before you know it, everything's gone. The rooms are okay. I had an okay room, but it was quite noisy as it was next to a busy road (for Alaskan standards). The hostel is not in a great neighbourhood and it takes a while to get to the city centre. It wasn't a great hostel, but some places are a lot worse.

“Clean, comfortable and friendly. Good value for money :-)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

I visited the Q Inn before and after going on an organised Group tour around Alaska.

I admit I was a little bit apprehensive about visiting the place, having read some negative reviews on Trip Adviser. However, I was happily very surprised at how nice the place is. The place did not bare any resemblance to the reviews at all. It was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy, a reasonable size and fully equipt with anything you need. The place had a quiet relaxed, warm eco-friendly feel to it and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend or visit again myself (both the Q Inn and Alaska). The whole holiday was exceptional.

“Give it a try...you might be pleasently surprised.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

If you have ever stayed at a hostel and enjoyed it...this might be one of the places to go to during the summer in Anchorage. This is one of the few places that prices don't double and triple during the summer months. I booked a private room. It was small but adequate for my needs. The bathrooms upstairs were really clean and well stocked. The place doen't allow alchohol in the rooms; however, smoking and drinking is allowed in the patio just outside. I'm assuming one will get an earful if you get too loud and disorderly.

I'm a walking person and love going to the movies. The big Century 16 is about 3 blocks away. There's a couple of restaurants that are quite good nearby. Serrano's (Mexican) is just downstairs and Campo Bello (Italian) is across the street. A bicycle rental place would have been perfect. I should have asked if there's one nearby. There's a billiard palace (+bar and grill) about 3 blocks away (I haven't checked it out yet) and an Outback not much farther.

I saw some bad reviews of this place so I was more than a bit skeptical. Jennifer, the manager, has been working here for about year and seems to have a good handle on things.

Best word to describe this place.......DUMP! Dirty restroom, floor counters, sheets, carpet, walls. Staff not helpful and way too high strung.
