Which I what I should have done on the Microtel website instead of what was written on another hotel booking site. First, this is the last hotel in America that doesn't offer hairdryers in their standard rooms. That's right. Anchorage, Alaska..a cold and hostile climate during the winter and you are SOL if you have wet hair. I still cannot believe they didn't have hair dryers - I travel all the time and cannot for the life of me remember the last time I stayed someplace without a hair dryer.
Second, the checklist I saw when I booked said there were mini refrigerators in the rooms. Not so, they are only in the suites.
Third, my perennial complaint about low end hotels these days -- no in-room safe for laptops/tablets. The first day I left my laptop with the front desk, then it took them several minutes to locate it after I returned from my outing that day. Eventually it was located in the Managers Office. I locked it in the trunk of my rental car after that anytime I went out. Honestly. Sheesh.
Other than my gripes above, the continental breakfast was sufficient and well organized. All the staff I dealt with were pretty good. The hot tubs downstairs were pleasant even if the jets weren't very powerful. Guest laundry was clean and in working order. If staying on the 2nd or 3rd floors, you'll find yourself taking the stairs a lot since this hotel has the slowest elevator in the world.
The rooms were clean, LACKING HAIR DRYERS, and the beds comfortable. The location is a bit challenging since International Airport Road is split and you can only turn right out of the hotel and you can't turn into it from the Northbound side of Int'l Airport Rd. If I were going back to Anchorage again, I'd probably book closer to the C Street hotels that had lots of restaurant choices (there is nothing close by Microtel.)
