“Relaxing Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2009

How do you top the perfect Alaskan Cruise? With three relaxing days at the North Country Castle Bed and Breakfast. After the hustle and bustle of 1,000 people on board ship, the peace and quiet of this quaint inn was much appreciated. We found Cindy and Wray attentive hosts and the wonderful inn with views of the mountains and the bay a perfect place to relax. I actually saw my first wild moose (We thought it was the neighbors lawn ornament until we saw it was breathing, we backed away veeery slooowly). Breakfast was always wonderful and Wray and Cindy were a wealth of knowledge about the area and the best places to go site seeing. We would go back anytime.

“I'll stay in the Turnagain Arm Suite again, and again, and again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2008

We had a wonderful stay at the North County Castle B&B in Anchorage , Alaska. We arrived on 8/25 and left on 8/28 for a few days excursion to the Gate Creek Cabins, and stayed again at North Country B&B from 8/31 to 9/1. Our stay there was a most wonderful experience for both of us.
First, our hosts, Cindy and Wray, are very warm and welcoming. They enjoy providing a comfortable and rememberable B&B experience, and are warm and lovely people. The house is immaculate. The appointments and colors used are beautiful, and accent the features of this uniquely designed house. The breakfast area is set in a room with a bay window that looks out over a beautifully landscaped area. In fact, the landsacaping all around the premises, which is at the end of the road, greets you with beauty that is natural to the area.
We stayed in the Turnagain Arm Suite which has a very comfortable queen bed, a fire place, and a large sitting deck that over looks the water and some of the Chugach Mountains. This deck is on the second floor giving a view through the trees behind the house, and is a nice quiet way to relax in the evening. The bathroom is large, with double sinks, and the biggest jacuzzi I've ever seen.
Cindy and Wray provide a delicious and filling breakfast. The first day we had their tasty blueberry pancakes and grilled smoked bacon, with lots of fresh and flavorful fruit. All the food they give you is fresh and of the best quality. In fact, when we came back on 8/31, we found out Wray and Cindy had spent several hours that day picking wild blueberries in the hills around Anchorage. I think they had over 10 cups of fresh, sweet blueberries for their guests.
Wray and Cindy are dedicated to provide the best B&B experience possible, and they succeed. They are very gracious hosts. I will definitely stay there the next time I visit Anchorage, and the next, and the next ...

“Perfect start”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2008

On August 20th 2008 we started our first trip to Alaska. We spent the first two nights at Alaska’s North Country Castle Bed and Breakfast in Anchorage. This was the perfect start of a wonderful journey. We stayed at the Turnagain View Suite and we loved the breathtaking views of Turnagain Arm, as a matter of fact an eagle greeted us on the minute of our arrival, circling high in the sky over our balcony! The Innkeepers Cindy and Wray are exquisite, every detail was cared for and accurate. The house is spotless. The location is not only romantic, but very convenient for trips to the Kenai Peninsula, as well as 10 minutes away from Anchorage City centre and very easy to find. If you need advice on where to eat, or what to see, they will have the right tip and can organize bookings for you. The gourmet breakfasts have been praised before and… it is all true. Cindy is a brilliant cook and again every detail is planned and cared for. Yes, we loved our first stay at an Alaskan B&B and would certainly recommend that guests, especially from Europe, who might not have tried this type of accommodation before, do so, as the warmth and the insight on other people’s living is an important add on to every trip. And there is no comparison to an anonymous stay at yet another American hotel…

“greetings from Europe”

Dear Cindy & Wray,

What exactly was 'the thing' that brings up so unforgetable memories on our staying in your home ? was the question, that me and my wife discussed several times after returnig back home. The conclusion was different every time. The trick is, it's not one thing, it's a combination: of genuine hospitality, house decoration with touch of class, breathtaking sunset views from the terace (at around midnight !) and - at last, but not least, gourmet breakfast.
Will we come back ? Well, it's a long trip for us, but next time it's easier - it would be like going home.

Best regards,

Igor & Urska

“A Great Place to Stay”

A quiet, secluded area where travelers are likely to see moose and other critters walk by while eating breakfast in a sunny nook. The hosts are accommodating and very knowledgeable about the entire area and are willing to provide any information the guests desire on places to go and things to see. The breakfasts are always a treat and special diets are not a problem as long as the inn keepers know in advance. The accommodations are superior, especially the wonderful master suite. Anyone enjoying the atmosphere of a B&B would do well to stay in this one.
