My wife and I spent our 8 day honeymoon at the North Country Castle in late May 2011 in the Turnagain Arm room. Overall excellent experience. Some key points on this B&B:
1) The house, room, and surroundings are beautiful. The room features a private balcony overlooking a wooded area with Turnagain Arm inlet off a few miles in the distance. Great spot to enjoy the morning coffee. The room has a wood fireplace, large two sink bathroom, and one of the largest tubs I have seen.
2) The owners were super helpful in giving recommendations on dinner locations as well as sightseeing outings. Cindy was our prime POC throughout the visit and had a good balance of making herself available but not overly intrusive.
3) Location is at the end of a circle down a dirt road, approximately 20 minutes from the Airport. Quiet, conveniently located.
4) We selected the continental breakfast for the first morning only (several food/service packages are offered). Excellent food with a definite focus on organic/healthy foods. Coffee was brew your own and available every morning.
5) I am hard pressed to select a major downside to the location. Two minor observations were room temperature and bathroom shades: It was about 65 high most days we were there. Even with the window opened and the balcony door cracked, it was a bit too warm for us in the room. The ceiling fan helps, but I find it hard to sleep with the constant breeze it creates. RE bathroom shades, although the bathroom is on the second floor and overlooks a wooded area, we felt a bit exposed without any shades in the shower area. Once the shower steamed up the window it was fine, but until then it was a little weird not having any sort of shade on the window. Both minor points, but worth being aware of if you are especially sensitive to either.
Overall, exactly what i had hoped for and what their website advertises (spend some time looking through their website in detail). I did a good deal of research to select a B&B for this trip and felt it paid off. I'd definitely recommend to others.
