“Can't imagine a better place to stay in Anchorage”

Looking for a place to stay in Anchorage last summer was a bit discouraging, since hotels were on the pricy side and their reviews were terrible. From looking at Trip Advisor booking info it seemed like most B&Bs were booked, but I took a chance and contacted a few directly. City Garden looked nice and was available for the 4 days I needed, 2 nights at the beginning and 2 nights at the end of my trip.

Well, I made the right choice, not only was it more affordable than a chain hotel, it had a great location - just a walk across the park to the outskirts of the downtown area; a great host - Vic was very helpful in advice on what to see and do, and let me store my luggage in his lobby after checkout. He even gave me a ride to the airport at which time he returned the tip I had left in the room. (I wasn't sure of their tipping policy, but wanted to err on the side of showing my appreciation); a great room - the room (front, shared bath), was immaculate, as was the shared bath; and great fellow guests - fun to talk with at the breakfast table.

I would stay here again gladly any time I visit Anchorage.

Room Tip: All of the rooms looked great, the bigger shared bath room has a library wall full of book, I stayed...

“They are AWESOME!”

My husband and I totally loved the quaint B&B! THe location is within walking distance to downtown anchorage and has more than ample roadside parking. The rooms are elegant, bathrooms super clean with amenities all ready and waiting. Everything is simply perfect!

The host we got was Rick and he was like a really nice "temporary-alaskan-grandpa"! Breakfast made every morning at the time you request too. And he even helped to make sure we were awake in time to eat breakfast on the second day and have time to get to our bus transfer. =)

Room Tip: There are 3 rooms. The one with the attached bath faces the back. The other 2 rooms face the front w...

“You've got to stay here!”

My wife and I stayed at City Garden during a one night layover in Anchorage on our way to a cruise. It is the nicest bed and breakfast that we have ever stayed at. The entire house was clean, cheerful and inviting. We stayed in the room with the en suite bath. The room was bright and cheerful with a gorgeous view of the garden. There were quite a few plants in our room which added to the atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. The people in the rooms next to ours arrived quite late and we didn’t even hear them! The breakfast was outstanding. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, excellent jam and a bit assortment of fresh fruit. Importantly, the coffee was first rate. The best part was our host Vic. He made us feel welcome and provided a lot of valuable travel information. In fact we had a great visit about Alaska and its history. When we decided to visit the Native Heritage Cultural Center (a must if you are in Anchorage), he volunteered to drive us there. He drove us to the airport when it was time to leave. When I forgot my jacket, he mailed it to me. If you are looking for a place in Anchorage, you will be hard pressed to do better than the City Garden B & B.

“WE WILL BE BACK, Great place & close to down town”

This was Diana & my first time staying in a B&B, We were made to feel at home with our hosts Vic & Jerry. If you want a varied & tasty breakfast as well as the option of as early as 5-30am. Then this is the place. Rooms were comfortable , clean & quiet. Vic is a wealth of things to see, do & places to stay. He gave us great advise on our trip to Denali as hotels to stay & eat.

Although we only stayed for 1 week it would have been a great joy to stay at this B & B a lot longer. Great value for money.

“Perfect”

My husband and I had such a great stay here. Vic was a wonderful and knowledgeable host. Breakfast was superb, the room was comfortable, and the bathroom was perfectly clean. We loved the quietness and coziness of the house and absolutely recommend City Garden to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Anchorage area. We did not have a car, but downtown is only a short walk away and Vic had perfect recommendations concerning bike rentals, taxis, and free shuttles.
