This is a classic 60's-modern style high-rise about as conveniently located to both downtown and midtown/Spenard as you could wish.
Got a substantial last minute PriceLine discount off their already very reasonable off season Alaska resident rate so expected one of their crummiest rooms, but was pleasantly surprised by fifth floor Jacuzzi suite.
The decor in my room appeared to be original 60's-70's in remarkably good shape including the double wide double deep classic Jacuzzi and full (not queen) bed, but with updated wet bar/fridge/microwave. The small old CRT TV worked fine and had free HBO. The heaters ticked and clicked instead of whooshing. There was ample too hot water to quickly fill that monster tub.
I did hear one of my neighbors having a ten minute screaming orgasm at 6 in the morning, but it was sufficiently muffled to be more humourous than disturbing.

This was the third time I have stayed here. It seems as if their performance is getting lower and lower. At check out, the maintenance man had to help me, but all he could do was collect my key and pull out my room papers. I was unable to collect a room receipt. I asked for a ride to the airport on the hour, like they told me. The shuttle was on a run and I was told that they would be back in a few minutes. However, 10 minutes passed and I had no choice but to call a taxi. On a brighter note, the shuttle driver is a very nice person, I was able to get a ride from him to the mall near by. I may have to consider other hotels before I stay here again. I was not happy with this trip.

in 15 years, i see ALOT of changes on this hotel, though I don't think will stay here again, there's nothing bad that I don't like, its just that the "store" is $10.00 by taxi, the restaurant is a bit on the pricey side. and the other reason that I don't want to stay here again is the shuttle runs by the hour, and the rate you pay 'determines' if you can take the shuttle back to the airport, i had to pay $20.00 by taxi just to go back to the airport,
at my 'other' hotel they don't hesitate to take me to the airport at ANY time. or even bring me to the "store" down the road from my 'other' hotel.
stayed here for 1 week, it was good, small fridge, small coffee maker (bigger coffee maker would be nice) microwave, basic cable TV, internet in rooms and lobby. And, 2 elevators but only 1 was working, and long waits for the elevator.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Inlet Tower and while the customer service is friendly and the hotel is one of the nicer ones in town in that price range, the rooms are in need of a few upgrades. I appreciate the fact there is a microwave and fridge (as well as coffee pot) in every room - it makes it convenient when you are staying for long periods. The upgrades that are needed, however, are cleaner bathrooms and better heaters. Both rooms I stayed in have yellow, discolored caulking all around the shower and bath. It is kind of sightly, especially in a room that is all about cleaning. The heaters are, in my opinion, the worst I have experienced in a hotel and should be upgraded. They are small wall heaters that have 5 settings. They do not emit hot air, but keep the temperature in the room at a constant. The problem is, as it gets colder at night, it does not get warmer in the room. If you want it warmer, you use a blanket or jacket, as I am wearing right now. The room heaters need an upgrade or they need to allow for hotter temperatures. Other than these two minor inconveniences, I would recommend the hotel and would stay here again as, like I said, it is one of the nicer ones in this price range.
