“NEVER NEVER STAY HERE, BED BUGS GALORE!”

We checked in on Friday May 28th, thought to ourselves, this place isn't too bad.... A little outdated but not to bad. Wow, we couldn't be any more wrong. The room first of all was so outdated, the beds seemed like they were 30 years old, the mini fridge seemed like the same age as the beds. The microwave was old as well and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. They don't provide any towels, soaps, or even clean sheets for that matter. Well the first night we were there was okay we got in late so we just went right to bed. The next morning when I woke up I noticed that I had some bug bites on my legs and arms... didn't think much of it since we are here in Alaska. After being there during the day i was inspecting the sheets and noticed that the sheet looked dirty. I washed them in hot water and thought okay this is just me being paranoid. Until the next morning woke up with more bites on my back, side and bottom. Places that are not exposed to mosquitos or flies. I then went to the front desk lady to tell her that I think there are bugs in the room that we are staying in and she said no, we dont have bugs. Then I showed her my bites and she tried to say mosquitos I said no, I'm from Juneau and i know these are not mosquito bites... they were in clusters. So then she offered to bug bomb our room so we would have to be gone for 4 hours. We did, and went back 4 hours later. I decided that I would vaccum the room just to be safe. We lifted the box spring off the bed frame just to find out that there were still bugs alive. Totally discusted we demanded a refund cause we were due to be staying there until June 20th. Luckly they gave us the refund and we found somewhere else much cleaner and nicer to stay. I would not recommend that anyone stay here. Just the 3 days we did stay here I counted about 37 bites all over my body.

I made reservations just going off the pictures on the website. When my husband and I showed up to check in a day early, and when we arrived it was really dirty, and nobody was there to help us for 30 minutes, we kept ringing the bell and finally when we did get help the guy showed us to our room to find this really dirty, smelly, old room, so of course I decided to cancel our reservations since it was 24 hours before the date it was made and we were told by the employee himself we would not be charged the 100 dollars..NE WAY, They pretty much stole from me and got away with it!! SISTER HOTEL to this one SUCKS JUST AS MUCH!! (Travel inn) Lots of Drunks, Homeless people and Cops alll the time. JUST DON'T DO IT!!! SPEND THE EXTRA COUPLE BUCKS TO FIND SOMEWHERE BETTER.

“Great budget hotel, friendly helpful owners.”

My daughter and I stayed here on our 12 day backpacking trip to Denali Natl. Park. It was the only affordable hotel in Anchorage. We were skeptical at first considering the neighborhood and price and when we arrived from the airport it didn't look very appealling from the outside, however, upon check in we were quite pleased with the friendly helpful service and the owners knowledge of the city as we needed quick, headache free ways to get to REI, etc. We had to walk up three flights of stairs with 40lb suitcases but as we are fit we didn't mind however I would warn those people who do have health issues with stairs, etc to maybe rethink staying here unless they can get a room on a lower level, there could have been an elevator but I did not notice one. We were a little shocked at the "old style" of furniture in our room but the beds were extremely comfortable and the room was extremely clean. I have stayed in five star hotels and been dissappointed with the surrounding filth but this hotel was most pleasant and enjoyable. The continental breakfast was also extremely satisfying with waffles, toast, fresh fruit, cereal etc. In conclusion, this hotel is definitely worth staying at and I will definitely stay here again, it really is a little gem, it may not look like much when you first see it but it really is a great little place to stay.

“Who would wnt to stay here?”

NOT a nice place to stay: No internet in any of the rooms, No housekeeping but they still take half the deposit for unkown housekeeping purposes. No screens on the windows, Smoke alarms hanging from the ceiling, floors with sticky dust on the disgusting unvacummed floor, hair in the sink, water leaking from upstairs, no kitchen utilities, Phones that don't work, Broken glass around the building, public kitchen in the laundry room where used bathroom/room used to be, smelling of dirty nasty luandry and urine. stale breakfast, ice machine doesn't work, unfriendly people, unorganized. This place is a disgrace, and insult. A JOKE! This place made me wish I had never left the comfort of my own home. I spent more money at that place then advertised. Refunds don't exisit and they are quick to follow right behind and say violation and charge a fee for minor things that I have never heard or seen happen at any other motel. The front desk manager had tried to walk into my room when they'd thought no one was there. I asked and they had said they wanted to see if everything was ok... WHO DOES THAT?

“Average by Alaska Standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

The people who run the motel are very nice and accomodating. They picked us up where our bus dropped us off and held our baggage for us since we had to check out and our flight didn't leave until late in the evening. I agree with the other reviews that this would be a good place for someone who works in Alaska seasonally to stay because they have a communal kitchen and a microwave and minifridge in the rooms.

Yet as a motel, it is lacking a little. The place is run down and a little stuffy. The walls need repainting, the carpets need to be cleaned, and it's not exactly in a prime location. It's about a mile walk to the attractions. I expect the places I stay in Alaska to be rustic, but the price definitely doesn't reflect what you get here, even by Alaska standards.
