The Burrow Inn is a home in an upscale neighborhood in eastern Anchorage. The owners, Betty & Paul, put a great deal of work into making this an exceptional experience for their customers. Betty's hospitality is outstanding and I hope I'll have another opportunity to stay with them.
Betty summed up her concept of hosting when she said "our house is your house" and handed me the keys to the front door. Our 2-room suite with a shared bath was upstairs, and the rooms were huge. Everything was designed to make sure we felt comfortable--there was even a massage chair which felt great after many hours on the road. The pictures should give an idea of the thought that went into her business.
I was especially impressed with what they did when they discovered that the internet connection in our suite didn't work. Instead of just apologizing, Betty first offered to let us use her personal computer, and then went to the store the next day and bought the equipment necessary to get everything upstairs up and running.
Betty makes certain her guests don't leave hungry in the morning. On the first morning, we were already full from the danish, cereal, fresh fruit, and bagel when she announced that the quiche was done. The next morning we had to leave early for a flight, so she prepared a huge cold breakfast for us and left it in a bag in the fridge. Everything was delicious. Betty also suggested outstanding restaurants for our other meals.
The location is convenient (15 minutes from the Glenn Hwy, 20 minutes from the airport) and quiet (it's on a residential street). All in all it was a great experience.
