“The perfect holiday Haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

After our fourth visit to The Haven we have no hesitation in confirming that it is just exactly that. A lovely house with beautifully appointed, comfortable rooms, a warm welcome by Frances and Hugh making us feel instantly at home, and all that in an idyllic, peaceful setting with views to die for. We enjoyed long conversations over leisurely breakfasts with advice on local places to visit and how to get there, such as the Abbaye d'Hambye and the fascinating town of Avranches - and then there's the local Tuesday market in Villedieu.

“Quiet little B&B in the Normandy Countryside.”

We stayed at this B & B for 4 days. We found that the attic room we had was just wonderful. It was huge and with its exposed wooden beams, made you feel like you were back in the medieval times, but with all the modern ammenties.
The host Francis and Hugh were very friendly and if you ask any questions about the nearby countryside only more and willing to help you plan a day out.

Every word on the website is true, beautiful, peaceful location, friendly and helpful hosts.
We had a great week there, and hope, one day to return.

“De-stress in France”

Twice now we have stayed at Frances' "Haven" and it is extremely aptly named. A beautiful farmhouse offering accommodation and meals if desired plus an attached self contained gite sleeping 4. As myself and my partner are self-confessed foodies, we have stayed in the gite which has exceptional kitchen facilities so that we can visit the local markets and then cook our bounty for dinner.
The property is set in beautiful gardens in a rural area and is the most tranquil place I think I have ever been. Frances is English and a wonderful hostess whom I like to think of as having become a friend. Everything is kept to immaculately high standards and the rates surprisingly affordable. We will return to The Haven many times and I think that you will want to aswell. Frances practices reiki and has the top floor of the farmhouse converted into an impressive treatment room where workshops including yoga are also held from time to time. I haven't yet indulged but hope to in the future. Villedeu les Poeles is the nearest large town which is very pretty and quite well set up for tourists whilst maintaining it's charming character. Whilst staying at The Haven we visited Le Mont St Michel, Caen, Dinard, St Malo, Bayeux, Granville and St Lo as well as some of the smaller villages and towns that all hold markets at least one day a week. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting in the lovely garden occasionally eating dinner under the apple trees. It's the kind of place where you have that type of holiday similar to the ones you remember as a child - filled with sunshine, smiles and wonderful scenery. In other words perfect.
