Twice now we have stayed at Frances' "Haven" and it is extremely aptly named. A beautiful farmhouse offering accommodation and meals if desired plus an attached self contained gite sleeping 4. As myself and my partner are self-confessed foodies, we have stayed in the gite which has exceptional kitchen facilities so that we can visit the local markets and then cook our bounty for dinner.
The property is set in beautiful gardens in a rural area and is the most tranquil place I think I have ever been. Frances is English and a wonderful hostess whom I like to think of as having become a friend. Everything is kept to immaculately high standards and the rates surprisingly affordable. We will return to The Haven many times and I think that you will want to aswell. Frances practices reiki and has the top floor of the farmhouse converted into an impressive treatment room where workshops including yoga are also held from time to time. I haven't yet indulged but hope to in the future. Villedeu les Poeles is the nearest large town which is very pretty and quite well set up for tourists whilst maintaining it's charming character. Whilst staying at The Haven we visited Le Mont St Michel, Caen, Dinard, St Malo, Bayeux, Granville and St Lo as well as some of the smaller villages and towns that all hold markets at least one day a week. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting in the lovely garden occasionally eating dinner under the apple trees. It's the kind of place where you have that type of holiday similar to the ones you remember as a child - filled with sunshine, smiles and wonderful scenery. In other words perfect.
