“A welcome like no other!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Already having been suprised by the beauty of the surrounding port, the hotel itself was extremely charming. From the reception to our room, the decor was modern and chic. We stayed in two different rooms during our month long vacation, each with their own personal touch of the region. The atmosphere of the Spa was relaxing and calm which only contributed to the overall enjoyment of our massages and time spent in the jacuzzi.

The staff was very friendly, accommadating, and always ready to help. The food was well prepared and we were truly shocked by the variety and orginality of the dishes!

We will not be staying anywhere else next summer!!!!

“lovely staff”

Stayed at the Spinaker for 3 nights with my wife and daughter. The hotel has a michelin rated restaurant on its premises. The show is run by two brothers and their respective wives. From what I gather one brother is a top chef and runs the restaurant and the hotel is run by the other brother.
I would qualify this hotel as boutique. The rooms are all decorated on a different theme. They are not big but all have small gardens which in summer is great. The rooms are air -conditionned but again very simple. Its time to get a little renovation going since the bathrooms are getting tired.
In summer they open a grill in the garden next to the pool were
you can have a small lunch under the trees.A true delight.Everything was not perfect. Our reserved room had a hygiene issue which was quickly and efficiently sorted out by the staff,One of the breakfast jams had already been opened and consumed by a previous guest.Again well taken care of.
There is one thing that bothered me immensely. We took dinner at the top rated restaurent. We spent 200 euros and the chef did not bother saying hello nor goodbye. He spent his whole evening
entertaining his buddies and regular guests.Maybe he should
spend sometime in the kitchen.
If in town go to St. Laurent d'Aigouze and dine at LE GRIFFOU:

  • Liked — the private atmosphere
  • Disliked — snootinness of chef

“Disappointed. Very basic room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2008

This hotel is a major disappointment. It looked nice on the web photos.

It is located at the end, with a gate, of one of the many marina dead-end roads. Nice location and the room had a patio, but that's about all the good I can say.

The rooms are in one-story "villas" with dark interior halls. Parking is close - that's a plus.

The room was very small and totally basic except for the tv, minibar, safe, and ceiling fan. There were NO toilitries in the bathroom (even bar soap), NO electrical outlets, NO sheets, NO solid interior doors (only sliding lattice screens), NO dresser, and NO hot water for the handheld shower that was in the tub. Apparently the hot water wouldn't come out if the shower head was more than a few feet above the tub.

The hotel location was nice, among the marina boats, but there weren't any stores or restaurants nearby (other than the hotel restaurant). We had to drive some distance to find dinner.

Anyway, it was a forgettable stay, and would not stay there again.

  • Liked — Scenic location, one-story building

“Sail into the Sunset!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2007

A really great hotel for a short (or longer) break out of season...although I can imagine how crowded Port Camargue could be in high season and Le Spinaker is right in the middle of the Marina, surrounded by yachts of all sizes and it might not be so quiet and relaxing. Stunning views in almost every direction, particularly so at sunset. Very comfortable and well appointed, ensuite bedroom with sitting room, cableTV etc. Elegant tropical style grounds with round swimming pool, with subtle floodlighting at night. The Hotel restaurant was closed for the night we stayed (late Feb 07) but the restaurant recommended (also in Port Camargue) was an excellent alternative. Breakfast was well presented with plenty of both choice and quantity, qualities so often lacking in some hotels who think a Continental breakfast is only eaten by size zero models!! English spoken by reception staff but some knowledge of spoken French an advantage. We would certainly recommend this hotel to friends and will stay there again when next in the area.
