“Last stayed here 4 years ago - new owners, just as good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

interesting hotel, some plus points and some not so plus.
Room was very comfortable but if at the front the noisy from cars and needs more lighting.
Breakfast could do with english papers even if american based and a toaster would also help.
I didn't use the restaurant although colleagues rate it highly - try the little italian down towards the town for good food at reasonable prices.

“Fantastic surrounding, great location, good service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2010

I was very pleased with this hotel from the "Small luxury hotel of the world" portfolio.
The Gardens and the access to the lac is fantastic and very peaceful.
The hotel layout is quite tricky with 4 houses/Farms connected with each others it is quite hard to find your room or the actual lift.
The colour tone is very nice and the overall decoration excellent.
As mentioned in previous review, it is not next door from Paris but easily 40 minutes drive, it is the perfect place for a week end away from Paris.

Bad points:
-
1) Disable access is an issue, some rooms are in a mezzanine (staircase in the room to access the bedroom).
2) The drink selection is quite poor, with only a handfull of Cognac & Armagnac and a small selection of Gin & Vodka...
3) No Blackout curtains.
4) Some rooms are quite noisy.
5) No air con.
6) Small breakfast selection (though the fruits are fresh and the selection of cheese quite nice).
7) No swimming pool & Expensive Spa treatments.
8) No Kettle service in the room.

Good points:

+
1) Very efficient front desk staff, nice uniform!
2) A great garden, view of the lake, perfect surrounding.
3) Small but nice selection of "Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa" amenities.
4) Good sleepers.
5) Nice restaurant, the food is OK.
6) Free car private underground car park.
7) Nice wooden floor (Heating floor system?) in some rooms.
8) Nice selection of Tea from Marriage freres (Breakfeast)

Overall a very nice hotel, good taste and efficient staff.

“First and last time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

We went to restaurant "Les Paillottes" with my partner for her birthday. The expectation was a quiet super for two at expensive, but reasonnable cost. On the intimacy and quietness. Nothing to say. The site is charming. On the service side, this was too relax, and the wine arrived too late, and was open just before being served, which was not the best. for a Bordeau. Food was correct, but the meat was cold, and quantities reminded us of what "nouvelle cuisine" could be 15 years ago. The bill turned the evening in a big joke. Too expensive for that level of service and quality. First and last time.

“False advertsing, a racket”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

This place was advertised in Town & Country with great looking garden pictures. Their phone ads says 15 minutes from downtown Paris.

When we arrived late in the evening the honest front desk attendant happily informed us that it is up to 2 hours drive from downtown on a Friday afternoon.

It took us about 40 minutes each way, so the next morning we called back at noon and informed the front desk staff that we wanted to move to the city. They informed us to come in an pay.

After another 40 minute drive we arrived and checked out, and now a very large man in a black suit informed us that they have a 72 hours cancellation policy, but only written in French.

The room was only average. The garden environment is very nice. We did not try the food or the wine from the owners chateau.

We guess that most foreign visitors are fooled by the false advertising, and when they want to move closer to the city then they are informed about the 72 hour policy.

The owners should be ashamed.

“Feeling of Home with Great Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

The hotel is located in one of the 'lungs' of Paris so if you enjoy a run, take a pair of running shoes! The hotel itself is 'boutiquish' and spread over 3 or 4 buildings interconnected through a corridor on the ground floor. The rooms are clean and spacious and my room had a view over the lake and woodlands and you woke up to the sound of birds.

The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly and try to make the stay as memorable as possible. The food at the hotel is divine and they do experiment a bit but I loved all the different meals that we had there. Being a bit of a foodie, it was an experience to try the combination of dishes.

The only down side being that traffic to CDG can be a bit unpredictable as you cut through the city and depending timing can take between an hour and three.
