“Breakfast was always a treat for the palate.”

Judy and Carol are great hostesses, treating guests with daily delicious fare. Judy's Northwest Eggs Benedict are to die for, and the fresh fruit each morning helps guests minimize the guilt associated with the total enjoyment of the bacon, sausage, warm syrup, and blueberry pancakes. Only a five-minute walk from Alaska Junction, the quiet location is ideal for shopping and browsing. The round dining table offers guests an opportunity to enjoy breakfast , family style. Gorgeous views of the water and the mountains from almost every room, too. Nearby bus stops allow guests to get to downtown Seattle in 15-20 minutes.

“Nice, but missing the special touches”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

My wife and I stayed at this bed and breakfast for 3 nights. While there is much positive I could say (location, cleanliness etc), it just seemed to be missing the something extra you expect from a bed and breakfast. We stayed in a room at the top of the B@B, and thought it was a charming room, but both my wife I kept commenting how it lacked intimacy. All the rooms were painted in one color, a cream color, and the interior decorator in us thought how much nicer the room would be with warmer colors. The bathroom had a nice tub, but again, it was painted all in the same color, with no pictures on the wall. Granted this was just one room, and perhaps the other rooms were decorated differently, but we just wanted a bit more. Breakfasts were average. Nothing that I could not make myself (scrambled eggs, sausage). Again, its not that we expect gourmet meals, but we do expect something more than what you can get at your better hotel continental breakfasts. The hostess was very nice to talk to, but I would not have preferred to see her walking around in the kitchen in her bare feet. The last day we decided not to eat breakfast, as we just were not that impressed, and unfortunately, that is half of the bed and breakfast experience. Also, it would have been nice to have a few things out in the afternoon, such as tea or cookies. Maybe they were there, but we were never told. Just the small things that we were missing.

The location was great, and we had some wonderful views. We just seemed to miss being spoiled, which is what we come to expect from a bed and breakfast...

“Judy makes you feel right at home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

This place made you feel right at home. The owner will talk to you all day, if you have the time. The breakfasts around the large kitchen table were wonderful; something different every morning! A couple people when we were there were really picky, so she made special breakfasts for them to eat with no questions asked. We usually skipped our lunch because we were so full from our meal! The candy in the dish by the entry was thoughtful, too.

“Villa Heidelberg-the best B&B in West Seattle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

My mother and I stayed at Villa Heidelberg for a long weekend to attend a family wedding. Judy was a most gracious hostess. I found my room(the Munich) with a great view, comfortable bed and adequate amenities. There was no musty odor in the room as a previous reviewer mentioned. As for an antiquted tv, the picture was crisp and clear. It had cable attached to it, but I wasn't at the B&B to watch TV.

Judy's cooking was delicious, and after speaking with other wedding guests who stayed at other B&B's in West Seattle, we had the best accomedations. I would highly recommend Villa Heidelberg to anyone looking for a nice place to stay during their visit to Seattle. I look forward to returning, and would definitely book Villa Heidelberg again.

“Negatives outweigh the positives”

Shame on me for not checking google maps. Suffice it to say that appearances ARE deceiving. Judy is a nice person and well intentioned, I'm sure, but this B & B falls way short of the mark in my opinion. The accolades that were heaped upon this once beautiful home are represented in the front window, the newest being 14 years old. The source of the musty odor in our room (Munich) was apparently the water stained ceiling above the antiquated television in the corner. The two, two-pronged electrical outlets in the room were filled with extension cords which were already overloaded with TV, fan, lamps, etc. Fortunately there was a GFI outlet in the bathroom which enabled me to plug in my laptop by the toilet. We ate only one meal during our 3 day stay after observing Judy repeatedly cough and sneeze over the food while preparing breakfast. She vehemently denied this but I know what I saw and I'll never forget the looks on the faces of the other 3 guests at the breakfast table when we heard her say, "Don't worry about getting sick. It's allergies, not a virus. I don't usually have this much trouble getting phlegm up in the morning." The icing on the cake was Judy's refusal to refund one of the four days as promised by her assistant. She did offer a free night towards a future visit and later sent a $50 check but she realized we would never be back and I felt her offer was grossly inadequate in light of our experience. So........$700 plus dollars for a 3 night stay and lesson learned. This from someone who typically doesn't complain about substandard service, never makes a scene and just goes away quietly, never to return. God knows I've stayed in worse places but not B & B's and not for $185 bucks a night.

This man fails to mention that he did not voice any of these complaints during his stay or at checkout time. All he did was sign his charge slip in protest and say he didn't think he should have to pay for the night he was not staying. When he made the reservation he checked a box on the form stating he had read the cancellation policy and that if he left early he would have to pay the full reservation. My employee never told him he would not be charged! As for the TV it may not be the latest big screen but it is cable and has a good clear picture. The small stain on the wood ceiling has been there for more than the 12 years that I have owner the house and has never leaked. There is no musty smell in the room and not 1 other former guest has ever complained the room was musty smelling.
Then this guest did not just ask for one night's money back he wanted almost half of his stay refunded. As for the cough, I did have a cough at the time but I did not cough on the food and if he had been so upset by that he would have left the first day and not have stayed another 2 more days as he had planned from his arrival.
I would also like to point out that upon arrival his wife asked to do laundry as they had been on a 2 week cruise and needed some things laundered because the ships "do everything on high heat". My housekeeper graciously did a load of laundry for them.
As you can see by other reviews this man was clearly our of line with his remarks and was very vindictive.
