I stayed at the Hotel 1000 for two nights last week. The hotel is recently renovated and new, so the décor is comfortable, modern, and interesting. It’s four blocks from Pike Market. The art in the room was tasteful and high caliber – spotlighted wall original paintings, objets over the coffee bar and on the bathroom shelf. The bathrobes provided were spa quality with heavy terry linings and fine cotton shells. The in-room coffee service consisted of a water kettle and press coffee service; you have to ask for decaf, though. Free internet service (as I believe should be standard for all upscale hotels)! Big, thick white cotton towels – plenty of them. Lots of storage – drawers in a dresser and shelves in the closet. The bathtub set-up is unique and well-represented in the review pictures. The room service food arrived promptly, was hot and high quality; AND it wasn’t terribly expensive. Baku, one of the onsite restaurants, was excellent – they have a full menu and a full page of tapas-size small portion plates. I had grilled octopus and fried cheese grits. The curtains made the room very dark and quiet; wonderful sleep quality; high quality sheets as well. What puts it over the top is the attention to service. The front desk answered promptly each time I called and responded to every request. When I retrieved my car from valet parking, they put fresh bottles of water in the front, offered directions, and held out the seatbelt to make seating easier – the parking staff was obviously very well trained on service. Two minor flaws: 1. Wall-mounted bath amenities (although there was bar soap) – some of my friends prefer this variation as it’s more environmentally sounds, but I like individual bottles; 2. I went to read in the library or the living room next to the entrance on my second night and all the common rooms were booked for a private event.
I will definitely stay here the next time I’m in Seattle.
