“Elegance in center city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

No false notes here, from friendly doormen to swift check-in to lovely (upgraded) room. There are three restaurants/cafe within the building: the lovely Georgian Room for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; a very good cafe with excellent pastries for breakfast fare on the lower level; and Shuckers, an oyster bar/pub, also on the lower level. I tried all three and found service and food very good, though, with the exception of the cafe, on the pricey side.

The upgraded room was an elegant junior suite--two large rooms, large bath, plenty of closet space, minibar, desk, sofa, chairs, two TVs, etc. Very comfortable for reading, with good lighting and easily accessible electrical plugs for rechargers--something often overlooked by hotels.

The Fairmont Olympic is a beautifully refurbished older hotel of considerable elegance, located about 4 blocks from the Convention Center, two blocks from the new and spectacular Seattle Public Library, and three blocks from the Seattle Art Museum. It is well situated for shopping and has some of Seattle's most elegant stores within the complex.

I booked in connection with the Northwest Flower and Garden Show and got a great rate (plus the unexpected upgrade). Check for deals.

“Great location and impeccable service staff”

My husband and I have stayed at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle, Washington on several occasions. The hotel itself has been refurbished and is very clean but our room was on the small side. The bathroom was right next to the bed which seemed odd and you had to close the bathroom door before you could enter the small doorway area where the toilet was. The arrangement was not the best. Also, there was only one "sitting chair" unless you wanted to use the hard, straight back chair with the desk so only one of you had a comfortable chair for reading, watching TV, etc. However, the hotel is very conveniently located so you can walk to shopping, restaurants and theatres. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is very accomodating and customer service gets an A+. They extended our checkout time without hesitation. A nice place to stay for a short visit.

Room Tip: Pay for the upgrade to a suite for more floor space.

“5 Star at 4 star prices - great location, food and staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed at the Fairmont Olympic for week long Conference. The Fairmont Olympic is in downtown Seattle, between 4th and 5th Avenue. It was built in 1924 and was previously the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel. Location is great with a 5 min walk to the water front and main shopping arcades. It has grand entrance area, large lobby and plenty of friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are a reasonable size but not all have yet been updated. There is no double glazing so rooms on front tend to be noisy from 6am onwards. Some rooms have glimpses of surrounding mountains and Puget SOund. Did not eat in the the Georgian restaurant but the Conference food was varied and very good. There is also the slightly less formal Shuckers in the basement. Breakfast is pricey at $27 but you can eat as well in the Belle Epicurean in the arcade or cheaply nearby in Starbucks. The Spa and health centre is well equipped and there is a business centre bizarrely on the 12th floor. It has a presidential suite and indeed Jimmy Carter stayed during the conference week! There are "town cars" including an XJ12 Jaguar which will take you around town free-of-charge on a first come first served basis. Slight minus points - no on site rental cars (but there is an Alamo in nearby Hilton), you can only drop off or wait for 10 mins, valet parking is expensive, wifi is not free and drinks in the bar are expensive. Conference Room Rate for a deluxe room was $160 vs $220 full rate.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking streets, check room has been updated and negotiate free wifi into the rate...

“Great service and a very nice room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

The service at this property was very impressive, but not overbearing. The front desk and doormen were always helpful any time of day or night. For example, on a Friday night I went up to my room with shopping bags and a pizza and salad from Mod. For some reason my key did not work for my room on the 9th floor. I was tired, hungry, and just a little cranky and did not want to carry everything back down to the front desk. So one call to the front desk and less than two minutes later, someone from security was letting me in my door. Before I could even say thanks, a new key was sent up from the front desk.

The rooms and property were very nice with an old world vibe. The bed was very comfortable and very bathroom was well appointed and spacious. The restaurant had very good food with surprisingly reasonable prices for a 5 star property in a large city.

I can't wait for my next trip to Seattle and a return to the Fairmont.

Room Tip: The King suites are very nice. I had a great view of Mount Rainer.

“Elegant Hotel & Great Service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

If you're looking for a modern, trendy hotel this one's probably not for you. But if you love old-world charm, elegance and great service then you'll love the Fairmount Olympic. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are quite nice, the gym is adequate and the hotel staff is more than accomodating. We really enjoyed our stay.
