“Worn & Weary - Both in Appearance and Service”

Pros: On the cheap side. Free shuttle service. Located a stone's throw from Seatac Airport.

Cons: Extremely worn property. Heating/Cooling units in rooms smell of mold & mildew. Inconsistent service.

The Clarion Hotel Seattle Airport has seen better days. It is an extremely worn out property that lacks consistent maintenance and housekeeping (e.g. peeling paint, holes in walls, broken furniture, etc.). Having said that, it is also on the cheap side, so the old adage that "you get what you pay for" rings true here. Now, I've stayed in several different rooms on the property, including the suites. Unfortunately, everywhere you go there is a musty smell permeating. This is just one of those properties that has you thinking "ewww" everywhere you go.

To make matters worse, the customer service here seems as tired and apathetic as the building. In fairness, it appears that the front desk is woefully short staffed for the amount of traffic they get from airport patrons. In the several trips I've made to this property, it appears there is only one employee per shift for check-ins, reservations, wake-up calls, phone lines and customer requests.

The bottom line is that if you only need to spend one night near the airport, this hotel is tolerable. However, with numerous other hotels lining International Blvd., there are certainly better options out there.

“Convenience, Convenience, Convenience”

Spent a week in the Seattle area and stayed here the first night and the last night. The complimentary airport shuttle takes about 5 minutes door to curbside. They have a restaurant and a lounge, both open until 10PM. One night, they had a dinner buffet which was ok since I was tired and hungry. Clean, quiet room with plush, white bedding. Yes, loved the bedding. I would stay here again because of the conveniences: location, shuttle, food & drink. And the bed!

“Decent-barely”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I needed a place to overnight to make an early morning flight during one of Seattle's worst snowstorms. Not a lot of choice, so I was happy to have a clean bed.

The place is more a motel, very worn around the edges (faux woodgrain worn off the edges of furnishing, revealing the fine pressboard underneath), though clearly effort has been made to keep it clean. Staff at checkin were friendly in spite of the travel mayhem, and the bed was comfortable and clean.

The restaurant offered only a "dinner buffet" for $14.95, with some of the sorriest looking food I've ever seen. It honestly looked like they were running out of food, and reheated whatever they could rustle up. No restaurants in walking distance. I couldn't bring myself to eat any of it, and opted for something from the vending machine and the emergency energy bar in my carryon--better food in the airport.

The bathroom was a bit of a disaster, with a leak in the ceiling (a real hole) dripping into the tub. Looks like someone tried to patch it--with paint! It's probably from the shower upstairs, which, if it's anything like this one, gets water all over the floor, since the shower rod is not strong enough to hold up the shower curtain when it gets wet and has pulled out of the wall, bunching the curtain up in the middle. Grout failing, wallpaper stained, not a pretty site, but an obvious effort has been made to keep it clean.

Internet free, extra charge for above 1024. Comfy bed, but lumpy pillows. There is a guest laundry, something I wish more upscale hotels would have (I still remember the night one of the kids was sick in the night, the hotel was happy to do sheets, but we had to wash jammies in the sink). Complimentary Wall St Journal, Fox News playing on the lobby TV.

“Comfortable but worn out”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

It would be hard to beat the location of this hotel as it is a nearly adjacent to the airport. Despite this closeness Seattle-Tacoma International it is quiet. The beds were superbly comfortable.

Unfortunately, the hotel is showing its age. The furniture in both the rooms and lobby is chipping and peeling. The desk lamp in our room had been pried apart with a screwdriver. The TV remote (which we had to search for) looked like it had been chewed by a dog. There was some kind of dried gunk that had oozed down the back of the bathroom door. Clearly housekeeping needs some training. You can't really miss the flaws.

The carpets need a thorough vacuuming along the edges. Indeed, the whole place looks like it needs a thorough scrubbing and a paint job. We've recently stayed in Clarion's elsewhere and this is the only one that we experienced that looked like this. The halls were cold, the heat in the room was nearly uncontrollable.

This is really a hotel for somebody that is transiting between flights. It might be OK for one night, but I wouldn't recommend it even though the price is reasonable. I've seen this hotel rated at 3 and 4 stars. No way that.

Room Tip: Try the second floor, but watch out for entry stairs if you have mobility problems.

I apologize for your experience. I would like to speak with you personally and make amends to show that we really care. Our hotel is an older one but our rooms are clean and have recently been updated. We are currently refreshing the furniture and installing a new LCD televisions for a better guest experience. My staff always provides the best service available and any time one of our guests have an issue we will do what it takes to make them satisfied. As far as the housekeeping issues I take those seriously and will be conducting a meeting with them to assure that they do not miss any items like this in the future. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and hope you have safe travels in the future.

“This hotel is two star rating at best.”

Room heaters are wall mounted with no thermostat so either running constantly, off or manually operated as needed.
Our room had no hangers in it, the facial tissue box had one tissue in it when we arrived with no replacement.

Room Tip: Spend a little more for a quality accommodation elsewhere. It worth it!
