“Bacon Mansion...out Seattle home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We stayed at Bacon Mansion last summer. After viewing pictures of our trip last night, I had to write a review. The Mansion itself is lovely...and the breakfast room and downstairs sitting rooms quite elegant. It was great each morning to sit around a large table for a very healthy breakfast and be able to chat with people from all over the country. We enjoyed the patio and an upper porch. Both places were great for unwinding with a glass of wine following a long day of touring. We went for morning walks after breakfast...the neighborhood is worth exploring.
There is a park close by which has a great conservatory featuring many of the spectacular flowers which grow in the area and also a very nice Asian museum. We were also able to view "Shakespeare in the park" there...all a couple of blocks from the mansion. Broadway is also a couple of blocks away with a wide array of restaurants.
Besides all of this, Darryl is a great host, and the location is convenient to all of Seattle.

I would highly recommend Bacon Mansion for a very unique stay in Seattle!

“Not terrible, not wonderful.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I stayed in the Carriage Loft which is basically the attic over the garage. The room was well furnished, and cozy. Be warned, however that the stairs leading up are narrow and steep, so if you're not agile consider a different room. Probably my biggest complaint about the room would be the outlets...none of them would "grip" the things I plugged into them, and they were too few, and generally in inconvenient spots. A power strip near one of the bedside tables or the desk would be great for charging phones, laptops, etc. The location is fair...a walk down two long blocks will get you to all the businesses on Broadway, but other B&Bs on Capitol Hill seem to offer better locations for the same money. Parking is awkward, but ample.

“Lovely warm stay in Seattle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We just returned from our son's wedding in Seattle and were so happy we chose The Bacon Mansion! Our wedding and all the other small festivities were right there in Capitol ill and it was incredibly convenient. But more than convenience, was the warm lovely accommodations for such a special weekend. We had a suite downstairs and our other son and girlfriend had a room upstairs. The owner Daryl was a great host and staff very helpful. I loved the look and feel of the house and can't wait to return!

“Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

I stayed there with my 18-year old daughter a week ago so she could visit some colleges in the area. It is a very nice home in a fun area of town, and was perfectly situated between downtown Seattle and the University of Washington. I think the name of our room was The Garden Room, which worked perfectly for us because there was both a bed and a daybed, along with a private bath. The hospitality was excellent as well. I would highly recommend.
