“Stylish, boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My husband and I stayed here last weekend for our anniversary and thought it was nice. It's a cool, stylish hotel that's not self-important. Small room and really compact bathroom. My husband said the shower was too small and the shower curtain kept clinging to him. I had a hard time regulating the temperature; it seemed like it was too hot or too cold as you can't set it to maintain a certain temp. Nice bed/bedding and decor. Of course parking was expensive ($30 plus taxes); all city hotels charge crazy parking fees these days. Great location for walking to Pacific Place, shopping and the movie theater at GameWorks. We didn't try the restaurant, but it looked nice. Everyone we came into contact with at the hotel was very friendly. We live locally and were just in the city for an occasion so we'll likely try a different hotel next time, but I'd recommended it to out-of-towners looking for a nice, affordable city stay.

Dear dobie397 (Kirkland, Washington),
Thank you for the feedback and we are delighted to learn you enjoyed your visit at the Hotel Max. I apologize for the issues with the water temperature and shower liner. We will review both issues, I suspect we need to replace the liners with ones that have weights in the bottom. We hope you will select the Hotel Max again in the future.
Regards,

“Outstanding location. Hip and current Ambience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Well, there's not way to beat this location. Minutes to walk most anywhere. A block from Nordstroms and the monorail, and a few more to Pike Place. Very trendy boutique type hotel. Wonderful ambience, amenities and furnishings. Bed was great. This would be 5 stars but the bathrooms are a bit small. OK, they're small. Nice... but small. Aveeno tolitries, but in a small bathroom. So, who's in the bathroom anyway? Get back out on the street. Don't hesitate to stay here. Adjoining restaurant is outstanding.

Thank you for the feedback and we are glad to learn that you enjoyed your stay at the Hotel Max. The washrooms are cozy, the building opened in 1928 as the Vance Hotel. In 2005 it bacame the Hotel Max but the original floor plans were maintained. We hope you will return again soon.

“Wouldn't stay anywhere else”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This has become our go-to hotel in Seattle and I wish there was a similar place everywhere we travel. The staff, notably Topher for us, go out of there way to accommodate you, find you the best rate or package, advise you on whats going on in town, and will upgrade you when they can. From the doorman to front of house, both in the Hotel, and in the attached Red Fin sushi resto, everyone is exceptionally pleasant and helpful. We've sent many friends to the Hotel Max and they all are repeat guests!. We love the art, the location, the luxurious and colorful boutique rooms, the photo hallways, and the whole Max experience. See you for Valentines Day!!

“great value, cool without attitude, very good restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I've stayed at Hotel Max 4 or 5 times within the last few years. Good location, clean, excellent value at around $100 (and quite often they have a promo). It is modern and has lots of cool factor, and I am pleased to say that unlike similar places, the staff has no hipper-than-thau attitude; they've always been kind and responsive. The rooms are a little small, but I don't mind because we are out enjoying the city. The only time I noticed the hotel being noisy was when we were near the elevator, otherwise its been fine. As others have said, the Red Fin restaurant is great and has become part of our routine; after a day and night on the town, we go to Red Fin for their excellent late-night happy hour.

“My Christmas Home Away From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

2011 was my third Christmas stay at the Hotel Max. They offer free wifi, half-off valet parking, and incredibly reasonable room rates around Christmas. I have a favorite room, and they have let me have it four times in a row! I stay at the Hotel Max because I can walk to Pike's Market, the EMP, Seattle Center, the Space Needle, the Seattle Museum of Art, and all the downtown shops carrying a camera and a big tripod. It's that centrally located. On Christmasy nights, under bright holiday decorations, you can see horse-drawn carriages, the merry-go-round, walk on safe, well-lit streets to Pike's Market accompanied by lots of friendly shoppers, and be entertained by street musicians. I am an amateur photographer. Day and night, I spend hour after hour shooting fascinating subjects within blocks of the Max. A review a few years go said it was not safe to walk around at night. That is ridiculous. I am 65 and go walking by myself every year. The hotel staff are considerate, attentive, smiling, and helpful. If you need anything special, you can talk to anyone at the reception desk, or ask for Mr. Travis Williams, one of the managers. He's a wonderful man, and he appreciates loyal customers, who love the Max and come back year after year to the best hotel in downtown Seattle. If you are looking for proximity to the heart of Seattle, an artistic, unique environment with great beds, bedding, bathrobes, and a safe for your valuables in the room, you're going to love this hotel. I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: I like the ninth floor, and a corner room. The night views are beautiful.
