This is an interesting hotel that has probably been top class in it’s time but now somewhat dated. If however you like art-deco style and a rather dark almost gothic interior then this is worth a try. The hotel is ideally located for the centre of town (behind the town hall) and although it has no car parking, its easy to park the car around the back to unload luggage. Nearest free parking is about 5-10m walk away and there are pay-display car parks closer but only for 2h at a time. Our room on arrival was a little disappointing but a brief chat with the receptionist resulted in a much better alternative room with a balcony overlooking a square and a view of the famous viaduct (worth visiting). Breakfast was ok but a little expensive for what it was. The bathroom was ok but the “shower” was a hand-held alternative to having a bath – surely would be easy to install wall fixings for these. Internet (wifi) access was limited to the hotel lobby. Hotel staff very happy to help with advice on local restaurants and sightseeing. Overall, the hotel is a little dated in appearance and the lack of near free car parking was a little tedious, but the location was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful.
