My daughters and I stayed 4 nights at the lodge and had a wonderful time. The log building is very striking, both inside and out, but was still very warm and comfortable. Dave and Wendy were very welcoming hosts, and although they don't live in the building they were often around making sure we were all OK. Because they have jobs to do that involve early starts, they don't serve breakfast but instead leave out juice, cereals, muffins and so on, and the coffee maker is on a timer. It's not a gourmet breakfast, but it did the job. There's a full kitchen with a big fridge and freezer, plus a big BBQ, and we cooked for ourselves on 3 of our 4 evenings.
The hot tob was very welcome in the evening, and the final touch were the two dogs, who always came to welcome us but never went where they weren't wanted. We had the Master Suite, which seems a bit more private, being the only one on the first floor. One of the two sitting rooms, with a TV and DVD, was right outside, so it was handy for watching TV before going to bed, though I think some of the other guests thought it was only the Master Suite occupants who could use it.
We had really interesting chats in the evenings and over breakfast with our fellow guests, and picked up some useful tips.
Bear Paw Lodge isn't 5 star luxury, but it has a character that is worth more than that.
