My husband and I just had to write to say we had a very happy 3 days at Murphys Motel last year when we were visiting Seward. The room was spacious and had everything
you'd need, it was only a short walk to downtown Seward and we were v ery happy with the price. The rooms were clean, the motel quiet, and the staff extra obliging.

We cant understand what the other reviews are talking about, we will be going back to
Murphys every time we visit Seward.

Our taxi driver recommended them to us, and we're really glad we listened to him .

We stayed at Murphy's for 3 nights after our cruise. We stayed in the older section and had no problems with the rooms, noise or bed. The older section of the hotel has new mattresses and plasma TVs. It was centrally located - half way between the small boat harbor and town. The staff was helpful and the rooms were neat and clean. I would have no problem staying there again if I make it back again to Seward

I stayed in this motel as part of an organised trip so I cant comment on price or the booking process as it was all done for me.

I had no problem with this motel. The location in Seward was great. The room was basic but perfectly fine. 2 large double beds in the room which were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and water was always hot. One thing I will say is that I could hear movement/tv from the room next door so if you had noisy neighbours Id say you would know about it. Id have no problem staying there again.

We booked one night stay for the ten of our family in three rooms. This was the final day of our 18 day land trip in Alaska. We had come to Seward to take the Kenai Fjords National Park tour and needed a night's stay before returning to Anchorage.
The hotel has old and new sections. We were in the new section We should have known what to expect from the almost hole in the wall check-in desk. The room appeared to be moderately clean, had a small fridge and coffee maker and two crowded double beds for each of our three family groups of 3 or 4. A small bay window was immediately adjacent to the sidewalk and main street. The small parking area outside the door was like that for the back door of a small business.
From the numbers on the small receipt that I got for the room, the rate for each room should have been $119. With that and the nature of the accommodations, we could have given it a 2 star rating, but we were charged 50 % more than that, at a price given to us by the travel agent. I assume that the agent got the big kickback.
The thing that made it completely unacceptable was the plastic covers on the beds under the sheets. We felt dirty.
