We were a family of four, and we stayed in the room with two large beds for two nights. Although we were on the first floor, the room was clean, it was moderately spacious, the beds were big enough for two adults to share, but the best had to be the tv; lots of channels!

The breakfast was simple yet adequate. There was coffee and a selection of tea sachets, some packaged fruit juices, plain and raisin bagels which could be toasted or eaten with cheese/butter spreads. There were also packaged fruit danishes which were really handy to take on the National Park cruise.

Location was near to the train depot and National Park cruises harbour, just a ten minute walk. Walking to the other end of Seward (the Sealife Centre) took about twenty minutes, which we aren't complaining about. In overall we were satisfied with this hotel and would return here.

They sell this motel as newly renovated with amenities- what a joke. Mould around the bath tub and a shower faucet that is not pressure balanced - when the neighbor flushes you certainly know it if you are in the shower. The shower faucet also looks like it is put together from spare parts, as where it says cold it is hot, and vice versa. Just asking the owner for decent hangars - there were no hangars in the room - resulted in an unexpected rude response.

Not a terrible place but certainly very poor value for money. Took a lot of effort just to get the coffee pot to work - the owner should spend a night in each room in order to get them a better feel for the problems in each room.

My husband and I just had to write to say we had a very happy 3 days at Murphys Motel last year when we were visiting Seward. The room was spacious and had everything
you'd need, it was only a short walk to downtown Seward and we were v ery happy with the price. The rooms were clean, the motel quiet, and the staff extra obliging.

We cant understand what the other reviews are talking about, we will be going back to
Murphys every time we visit Seward.

Our taxi driver recommended them to us, and we're really glad we listened to him .

We stayed at Murphy's for 3 nights after our cruise. We stayed in the older section and had no problems with the rooms, noise or bed. The older section of the hotel has new mattresses and plasma TVs. It was centrally located - half way between the small boat harbor and town. The staff was helpful and the rooms were neat and clean. I would have no problem staying there again if I make it back again to Seward
