“Good location, nice owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

We booked this location because we were going on the small boat tour with the Barkleys and thought it would be good to do both with the same people. Kathleen was
a wonderful hostess, sending someone to pick up and deliver us and our luggage to the railway depot. She also took my husband to get drinks, and offered to take us to other places if we needed it. It is a fairly easy walk to the small boat harbor and you can catch a free shuttle from various locations there and at other places to go as far as the Sea Life center. She also let us store our luggage there after check-out time, so we could see more of Seward.

The queen bed room is clean and roomy with a nice view of the mountains. It is in a residential area, but there are few houses, so it feels fairly private. There is a small refrigerator, a coffee maker and a microwave and she provides a bowl with some candies, coffee, various tea bags, as well as kitchen supplies for use in the microwave and for eating light meals.

Since it is listed under bed and breakfast, it would be nice if a few breakfast items were provided, like packaged muffins, oatmeal, cereals, etc., but we knew up front that these were not provided, so it was not a big deal. The staircase to the second floor rooms is inside and covered, making it easy to access your room at any time of day or night.

Overall, we were very pleased with the room and would stay here again and recommend it to others.

“Not a B & B”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

We rented the larger room of the Dairy Hill B & B - no breakfast included for two nights. The stairs up to the room were incredibly steep. The room was clean and lots of room (2 beds) but had no room darkening shades which made sleeping difficult for us. The space heater provided didn't begin to warm the room enough and there were no extra blankets made available. There were no advantages to not staying at one of the hotels nearer the wharf or downtown.

“Great Stay - Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dairy Hill Inn. Our stay was in a quiet residential area within walking distance to Seward Harbor, stores and restaurants. Our room was light, airy, roomy with a Queen bed and equipped with a microwave, minifridge, coffee maker with mugs/cups, coffee/tea etc. We stayed 4 nights – walked all over Seward even though we had a car, saw and photographed, horses, Mallards, Harlequin Ducks, Mew Gulls in the pond and Bald Eagles perched in the trees, nearby. Making reservations was quick and easy, the owners whom also run Saltwater Lodge are very friendly and accommodating. Next time we come back to Seward, Alaska we will stay at Dairy Hill Inn or Saltwater Lodge by the water on Resurrection Bay. A very good experience!

“Great place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2008

This is a fairly new and clean place to stay. We tried to get into the Alaska Saltwater Lodge, same owners, but they were booked. So, based on all the good we had heard about Saltwater, we booked here. When I go back, I will try to book at Saltwater to be near the bay, but would come back here if full.

Breakfast is NOT included in your stay here. We must have missed this information and were a little surprised, but there was an awesome bakery in town! It is also a bit of a walk into Seward, but not that big of a deal.

All in all, we had a wonderful experience here. We also took their boat tour of wildlife and glaciers. They did an awesome job! We really enjoyed the ride!

“Dairy Hill B&B (run by Saltwater Lodge)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2006

Spent 2 nights at the Dairy Hill B&B which is run by Saltwater Lodge. We rented both rooms which are upstairs over the garage/storage building next door to the owners residence. If you stay here, be sure to check out the exterior of the buildings. Look for the animals that are carved into the wood siding. The rooms were very clean and nicey decorated. Our teen kids shared the larger room with 2 beds, 1 bath. We had the smaller room with a King bed and bath. Each room had a sitting area with a TV and a kitchen area with microwave, mini fridge, dishes, coffee pot, sink, etc. Each room had its own table for enjoying a lazy morning breakfast.. An ample supply of breakfast items were provided fresh each day including yogurt, bagels, muffins, bananas, instant oatmeal, teas, coffees, etc. I was especially pleased to find a sugar-free, caffeine-free flavored coffee choice! The location was very convenient, although it doesn't have a view. It's in a quiet neighbothood about 2 blocks from the small boat harbor. We were able to walk to the small boat harbor, to dinner, to the laundramat, and even to the Sea Life Center. We could have also walked to the Cruise Boat dock, but we called PJs Taxi instead since we had so much luggage. Staying at Dairy Hill was perfect for our family because the kids had their own room and it was so warm and welcoming that we felt like we were staying at a friends house.
