Pros: Great staff, laundry facility, shuttle to/from train and seaport, walking distance to most things

Cons: No air conditioning, dirty rooms, dirty sheets (in old section)

Recommend?: Yes, but only if better options are already sold out

Tips: Request the new section when you book. If it’s full request a fan and blow drier when you check in, before they run out. Do your laundry early, it gets very busy later in the day.

The old section was awful and definitely not worth $200 per night. However, the location was great, and the staff was wonderful. There is a new section, if it’s available, book it! It’s more money but well worth it, from what we saw. Don’t expect to ask for it when you get there. Most of these hotels are sold out during cruise ship season. We actually wanted to stay in the Holiday Inn but even trying to book five months in advance, it was already sold out.

In the old section there is no air conditioning. Being from Miami, FL, we were basically freezing almost the entire time we were in Alaska, lol. Of course Seward was the ONLY time that it was kind of hot (July). You could open the windows, but it just didn’t feel secure as people were constantly walking by. Luckily I went to the front desk and was able to get the last small fan. The beds were hard and kept sliding off the box spring. The sheets were stained. The bathroom was stained with rust and dirt. The laundry facility was nice to have half way through our trip. And shuttle was a nice feature, though not always the most reliable.

My husband and I stayed in room 333. We had a beautiful view of the harbor. The room was not cleaned to standards by any means. The carpet was stained and in the room itself needed a good cleaning. The cleaning person was a young man, and he did not even vacuum the room. I noticed a lot of the cleaning staff were young men, that did the bare minimum. The hotel has a resturant and bar also a giftshop. The gift shop ladies were very friendly and informative of the area. The resturant food was good and very reasonable. I have spoke to the general manager and I have faith that perhaps next season, this hotel will get the cleaning aspect together. I would tell you to at least give them a try. You cannot beat the location.

I stayed for one night before a day trip on one of the boat tours. The location can't be beat for that. I also received a free souvenir (choice of mug or pot holder) from their sister store. I never saw any cookies though. Even though I booked a "classic" room, I took the advice from other reviewers and requested to be put in a room in the new building when I arrived. It was late (~9pm), so that may have helped, but she did put me in a newer room. It was huge! Fridge and microwave were a plus since I bought lunch to take on the boat. Clean. Even though I faced the harbor, I was on the second floor and all I saw was the building in front of us, but the third floor might be better.

I'm only giving it 4-stars because my reception experience was a little weird. I don't know if they can't hear when they are in the back room, but I could see them, and even though I called out, I had to wait 5 minutes before someone else came by and noticed me.

Overall a good stay, and I would recommend this if you can get a room in the newer section.

The Breeze Inn in Seward is a fairly up to date motel. We were on the 3rd floor of the newer annex overlooking the harbor. The rooms are your typical budget hotel room. The room was clean, up to date and had cable and a mini-refrigerator. I had an issue with the shower head needing additional cleaning and housekeeping took care of it that day. The shampoo and soap products were fine as well. The coffee shop was excellent for a morning latte.
