“It has potential to be a lot better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

We stayed at this hotel for the first time. The location is good, because every other hotel on island Korčula is located at or near a marina, so there are boats parked close to the "swimming area". The hotel is old. It was built in 1986, and it was partly renewed. The rooms are pretty small in comparison to newer hotels. The food is not that bad, when it's fresh and properly cooked, which isn't always the case. This doesn't happen all the time or to all the dishes, but sometimes it does. And sometimes some of the dishes run out, which is normal when a hotel is fully booked. But the problem is the time it takes the staff to replace that dish or dishes. It takes them forever (there are people in line waiting), and when they finally bring them out, they're almost cold. That means it was cooked for quite some time. So why not bring it out before? I mean it's not like they didn't have the time, because they were walking around. Again, this doesn't happen every day, but it happens often. I've been talking to some people, who have visited this hotel before, and according to them this didn't happen the years before. There are a lot of different drinks to choose from, but non alcoholic drinks are ice cold. Not really suitable for young children. Snack time is a bowl of pop corn and some cakes which are left over from lunch. If you want any you must be there at 4 p.m.
One problem , which bothered me, are the local kids, and I don't mean little children, I mean grown up kids (16, 17 years old). They come into the hotel for drinks and snack in the all inclusive bar, they are going to toilets in hotel. There is no control. That's because there are young people working at the bar, probably just through holiday season, which are friends with those local kids, and of course they let them do it.
There are two tennis courts and sandy voleyball court. There is no control there either, because people from nearby come to play tennis for free. So if you plan on playing, good luck trying to get on court.
Parking is free, but not protected. Someone has damaged the lock for the gas on our car. I guess they were trying to steal the gas (they didn't succeed, thank God), or something, but we didn't see it until we went to a gas station to get some gas. We were already on our way home in Split. Luckily the lock wasn't damaged enough, so that we were able to unlock it and tank the car.
This hotel could be a very good hotel, with its location, and if they renewed it (the entire hotel), even better. But they would need a new ownership and a new management, bad.

“So bad we left early”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2007

The building is old and ex-communist, however the real problems are not with the architecture, in fact the pool and beach are actually rather nice. The real problem stems from the food which you are pretty muched forced into with the all-inclusive billing. I have read the other report about the food being good - but find it hard to believe that what we expreienced could have been an aberation, it appeared to be continuously bad. To compound the matter the hotel may be only 2.5km from town but it is on an unlit pathway which is not suitable for walking back after dark - even with torches. This meant that it was difficult to go out for dinner and get back as this is very much a one taxi town. As the title to this review suggests we left early (happy to pay the early departure penalty just to get away). There is very little to say good about this hotel - other than it has a delightful pool. The cost for the exceptionally low quality food was rather distressing and we were very happy to move away.

“Excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2006

The hotel is located in 20 years old post communist building, which is only partly renewed. The site is clean but remotely located 2.5 km from the city of Vela Luka. The rooms from the seaside are quite good except for the windows that are old. There is no beach; only concrete platforms. The sea bottom is raher steep with many stones (shoes necessary). Water's quite warm and clear but not so clear as in Egypt. Snorkelling possible but not interesting.
Service proffessional.
Animation is rather poor: disco or the so called live music performed by one person. Both end around 11 PM. The music is so loud that it is impossible to sleep having a room from the seaside (where the music is performed).
They offer excurtions to Dubrovnik, Mostar, island Mliet, and Korcula round trip. However, the trips are kind of survival. They do not properly care of tourists. For example: from the hotel 6 people went to Dubrovnik, but only 4 returned, and nobody knew where they were left... So beware.
What makes the hotel exceptional is the food they serve. It is very tasty with many changes day after day. Always fresh and properly cooked. I have a sensitive stomach but I never had any trouble. People I talked to shared this opinion. The food definitely deserves five stars.
