I'll preface my review by saying this hotel cost EUR 70 / night. It had all of the things that one would need in a hotel - a bathroom with running water and a toilet and a bed. Bonus points for also having a terrace. However, it was hot and humid in Hvar (around 30C) and there was no a/c. This made for some uncomfortable sleepless nights. Also, Hvar is a party town with people partying all through the night. Given that this was a cheaper, two star hotel (the annex of the much nicer Hotel Dalmacija), there was lots of partying going on in the rooms around us. The walls were concrete but the windows were single paned and very porous. Thus it was incredibly loud at night. Because of the heat, the walls permeated the smell of the thick black paint that lined the walls. The walls were practically sweating paint. (We're not sure if the room was newly painted but it sure smelled that way.) Also, all the front doors had large vents above them to let in fresh air. But you couldn't shut the vents (wooden slates) so the noise would get into the room that way as well. Our room was on the upper floor (4th floor) and there's no lift. Plus the hotel's on a hill so you have to walk up the stone pathway as well. Hard to do with a suitcase.
On the plus side - it was a cheap room with the basics. Plus it had a terrace with a nice view. Also, the Hotel Dalmacija offers a decent breakfast in the morning which the annex guests are allowed to partake in.
