“Beautiful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

We had our 1st holiday with SAGA on our in-laws recommendation. We had a very enjoyable week. The hotel was very comfortable, and the food was generally good.
We went all inclusive, which wasn't like any other AI we had done. Local drinks only were only available in the SAGA Club, which was a bit antiseptic but OK. No included snacks available outside of meal times.
Many previous reviewers commented on the regimented seating arrangements at meal times. Agree it could be off putting, but it is due to the mutliple choice of tariffs available (i.e B&B, Half Board, Full Board and AI). They need to keep track of who has had what meal. The hotel attracts a lot of coach parties, and on our last night 290 (we were told) German coach trippers arrived. The queue down the stairs to the restaurant certainly seemed like 290 people. When there was a large coach party the restaurant was extremely busy with queues at the buffet. Our main gripe was the cost (22 kuna-about £2.50) for a small Coke from the mini-bar when we arrived on our 1st night. Needless to say we didn't repeat that. The sea views are spectacular with the Island of Brac in the distance and the mountain to the rear equally impressive. The SAGA rep Jennies was exceptional. Overall we enjoyed our week.

Room Tip: Pay a £2 a day supplement for sea view

“Excellent hotel, right on the Promenade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We stayed here with Saga as part of the " Land of Culture & Beauty " in a sea view room.
The hotel is right on the promenade, where if you are B&B you will fing lots of restaurants- it's also a nice stroll along on an evening. The evening entertainment was not very good and we just preferred to sit around the pool and have a drink.
The food in the restaurant (we were AI) was good, plentiful and there was always fresh fruit at breakfast time. The room was clean, the beds comfortable.
The situation, not far from Omis & Makaraska is ideal.

Room Tip: Sea view / pool view rooms a must !!!!!!!!!

“Great Friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2011

I have just returned from this hotel ( June 4th),as a solo traveller i was a bit apprehensive
what i would find when i got there.
The hotel and its surrounds are clean and tidy. The bedroom i had was a double so had plenty of room, over looking the Biokovo Mountain, the only moan was that the shower could have been slightly bigger
Our rep was Jennie who is full of information and adviceand couldn't help you enough
The hotel is situated not far from Tucepi harbour and is a nice stroll in the evening,if you like to walk you can to Makarska through pine trees, a little steep in parts but worth doing about six miles there and back.
Excursions i would recommend are
Dubrovnik - you go along the coast road take's about 3hrs, only down side is the amount of information you are told by the guide,i don't think she stop talking in that time, also another guide takes you for anther hour when you get there,if possible learn has much as you can before you go as you will only get approx 3hrs there so that youwill not need the second guide.A walk around the walls is very good , takes about hour and a quarter if your fit - cost approx £45
Biokovo mountain an excellent trip to the peak - need good weather, and can see for miles - cost approx £33
Mostar - To see the bridge that was demolished in 1993 but now rebuild
really worth seeing - cost approx £42
Boat trips - I did two all day boat trips, one to the islands of Hvar & Brac the other to the island of Korcula, both great trips especially for the scenery along the coast, also you get time on each island to explore - cost for the two approx £65
So as you can see though i was on all inclusive holiday you still need at least 2 - 3 hundred pounds to spend on excursions, there are plenty more but the above were my favorites.
Food at the hotel was more for the Germans than the Brits but you could always find some thing to eat ,especially if you like salad, the only moans are the chips are not that hot and if you come in towards the end of siting you miss out on some of the choices
The other Saga guests were all friendly and chatty but one particular group of seven were fantastic and became very special friends and let me join them for meals, walks and excursions out - in fact they are so good they invited me to join them on there next holiday - which i will So thank you Wacker,Joy, Ray ,Mary,Gill,Marlene and Sandra for allowing me to be with you

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for view of the pool side

“Nice hotel, shame about the guests”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

Came here for a belated honeymoon with my wife. First the hotel in itself is nice, great location in front of the sea, polite and friendly staff, nice rooms, buffet food not too bad, good value for money at least. The safe in the room took a few goes to lock and the bed is two singles pushed together despite being sold to us as a double room. The big area that I feel let this place down is the rude and selfish behaviour of certain other guests. Starting with being woken up by some fool playing an accordion outside our room at 8am while his whole party sang along to the German folk songs, with no consideration for the other guests who might actually want to get a bit of a lie in on their vacation! Also for the first few nights the outside entertainment was completely geared towards the German guests (yes more accordion music and leiderhosen wearing musicians!)
On one occasion I was first in line to wait for the lift and an elderly gentleman pushed in front and put his arm out to bar my way so he could hold the lift for his companions and stop me from getting in, which meant i ended up taking the stairs. Now of course had he had the good manners to ask me if he and is friends could go first I of course would agree, but it seems manners were a little lost on this fella who didnt even acknowledge my existance.
Also on more than one occasion, my lovely wife was practically barged out of the way at the buffet table in the food hall. Its only food people!!! and do you not have respect at all for the fairer kind?
Finally on our last day, a woman, pushed in front of my wife at the coffee stand (in a huge queue of, 2 people, my wife and herself!) My wife politely waited then went to pour herself a coffee (despite the woman blocking both the milk and coffee urns) at which point the women decided to back track and grab herself a saucer. Rather than just walking around my wife or saying a polite 'excuse me' she reached across her then made a rude comment to the effect of 'are you blind' because my wife was in her way! Utterly disgraceful behaviour, what a wonderful and joyous human being she was and a great ambassador for her country - NOT!
I live in London and am used to people being rude all the time. I came to Croatia to get away from all that and relax on my honeymoon with my wife. However my respect for my fellow man and their complete lack of manners and consideration for one another has taken quite a battering, more so than dealing with the crowds of Londoners on the tube everyday! Thankfully the Croatian people have been utterly wonderful hosts and perhaps have restored some of my faith in humanity.
Well we found some lovely stray kittens in Makarska, maybe well become mad, reclusive cat people, at least they were sweet!
But of course, the hotel cannot choose its guests and aside from that it has been a pleasure staying here, just be sure to be thick skinned when entering the buffet area.
