We stayed her for a week with my extended family occupying two separate apartments. (2 bd, 2bth each). Nice and private, quiet and away from the traffic of town, but close enough to get anywhere. The unit next to ours (they are situated in groupings of 4 or 5 two-story units) was owned by the inhabitants, so I believe the grouping has a combination of owned/occupied, time-share and regualar rental. The staff was very helpful, the pools scattered around so one was always nearby. Tennis on site and we were surrounded by a nice golf course. Just a 5 minute walk downhill takes you to Keauhou bay where there are sport-fishing, manta ray snorkeling and other water tours. Someone complained about the decor. Yeah, it's mid-eighties, but we were gone so much no one cared and it was clean. The staff quickly responded to a broken screen as well. I will stay here again. The only improvement I really need is better bathroom lighting and perhaps and exhaust fan. My sleep quality complaint has to do with hard beds and giant pillows, that is a subjective complaint.

Mauna Loa Village as a part of our timeshare and it was prefer for our little family for a week vaca. Quiet, home like atmosphere, private pool areas. we are in driving distance and maybe walikng distance to beaches and main market places, and must sees places. The units were very clean and spacious. The staff was very accomodating and welcoming. The concierge, Howard did a fantastic job setting us up with the perfect tours for us. He is the best. One thing he said we couldn't do the whole island in a week.... Well we did and had so much fun doing it! (hehe). The decor seems to be outdated but if you think about it... what would the decor on a beautful island look like. I really like it and my kids did too. We had a wonderful time.

We recently stayed one week in a one bedroom condo (unit 5534) as part of a timeshare trade through Trading Places. While there are many good things to say about the exterior of this resort (e.g., location, landscaping, quiet, pools, etc…), we left disappointed, primarily due to the interior of our condo. The décor seemed like it hadn’t been updated since the late seventies. The living room had very ugly vertical blinds, valances, couch and chairs. The bathroom was small and barely functional. The shower doors and faucets were worn and dirty. The shower itself drained very slowly and the sink was too small. The mirror and sink faucet was equally worn and outdated. The kitchen was a galley style configuration and a tight fit for multiple people. The kitchen cabinets were vintage seventies and desperately in need of replacing. On the plus side, the kitchen was fully equipped with fairly new appliances (stove, microwave, dishwasher & fridge (with ice maker)). The stackable washer/dryer in the unit was small but worked fine. The bedroom was fairly large and had an adjoining patio/deck (which could not be accessed from the living room – seemed very odd). The dated décor continued in the bedroom again with the ugly vertical blinds, valance, furniture and bed spread. There was a free programmable safe in the bedroom closet, but it was mounted to the wall in such a way that it consumed about 40% of the usable closet space.

I will say that the room has potential. It just simply needed to be fully gutted and redone. It could be that other rooms at this resort have already been updated??? We just won’t be returning back to find out. Ironically, the Wyndham timeshare salesperson apologized to us upon learning that we were staying here. She explained that Wyndham does not actually own the resort but was required to take over as property managers as part of their deal to purchase their flagship property closer to downtown Kona.

Just like the reviews and photo's shared, the resort is very quiet and well manicured. You could not hear traffic, kids, dogs....anything. Grocery store and shops are very close and a quick drive into the hustle of the strip in Kona. The unit was clean and everything was in working order. I was even surprised to find a pack of orville micro popcorn and a teeny salt and pepper shaker! They also provided us with enough dishwasher detergent and 2 packs of laundry detergent. Cindy and Howard were super folks at the check in area and we were never bothered to take a time share tour. Our one bedroom was spacious and my only complaints would be that the king sized bed was too soft and they charge for internet. I wish I had known that we could have gone to the sister resort down the street for activities. I had read this in another review afterwards. Double check on that at check in. Only thing I wish this resort had was a beach, but I soon realized that you do have to search for beaches due to the rocky (lava) coastline.
