After spending 5 nights in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, what a pleasant surprise to find Kona and this very clean, comfortable and impressive hotel. A BRILLIANT location, walking distance to many eating options and access to all tours (generally pick up or a short taxi ride to the marina..). Staff in lobby were very accommodating and pleasant. Unfortunately we only had the two nights on Kona however we made the most of it with the highlights of our 11 day Hawaii adventure mostly coming from Kona. A must do is the night Manta snorkel. Cheap activity compared to most things (aprox $80pp) and I promise once you see a Manta, the initial fear disappears and it will also be your trip highlight - amazing. We went out with ‘Sunlight on water’ who were brilliant and had terrific, fun crew. We also had Martina Wing on board who capped off the experience. Martina has spent many years researching and advocating the beauty and clearing up misconceptions of these beautiful giants of the ocean – Keep up the terrific work Martina! My wife and I also took the 12hr Island tour with Polynesian tours. Jerry our 'captain' of the bus made it a terrific day and a great way to see the beautiful big island if you are short on time (volcano viewing (not active lava on the bus trip), waterfalls, Kona coffee, Black sand, volcanic rock etc...). My wife and I (30yrs) were the youngest by some years however it just added to the enjoyment of the tour.
