“super-clean condo with unbeatable view”

Four adults and an energetic 3 year-old spent four great nights at unit 1-202. The condo was immaculate, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we would need for a great visit. Brand new snorkel equipment, beach towels, cooler, umbrella and boogie boards to use to spend the day visiting the incredible array of fish (and 4! sea turtles) a short walk down the road at Kahulu'u Beach Park (which also happens to be the best beach for taking a surf lesson during your visit, I had a great one with http://www.surferbearhawaii.com). Lovely beds, nice furnishings, tons of fresh linens, binoculars for whale watching off the huge oceanfront deck, and a really friendly resort community made for a great visit. There's literally nothing I would criticize about the unit - though while it is good to keep in mind that there is no air conditioning, the powerful ceiling fans and screened-in sliders to let in the ocean breeze made this a non-issue (at least in February).

Room Tip: 1-202 has an amazing waterfront view - being on the second floor, you're above the (lovely but r...

“Excellent condo on peaceful site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Gated group of condos some right at the water’s edge with pool on site.
I believe they are all individually owned so probably decoration can vary - the one we had (2-203, booked via Aloha Condos) was smart, very well furnished, clean and well equipped.
Loved the large lanai for outside meals overlooking the ocean and stretching across the main sitting room and master bedroom. There was a wifi box but couldn’t connect.

No sea swimming here the coast is black, very sharp, volcanic rock but there is a good sized pool if you don’t want to find a beach – and there are not that many close.

The site is well run, very quiet and peaceful at night apart from the sound of the sea!
BBQ area is small but seems sufficient.
Each condo has their own parking space with extras designated for guests.
Nearest supermarket we could find was Safeway about 10-15 mins drive.

Like: smart condo. Dislike: no beach

“Great place away from the hubbub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We recently stayed with another couple in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo for a week. The condo was on the first floor and we did have a heavy walker in the condo above us but wouldn't have traded for the fabulous convenience of being able to walk over to the water right from the lanai. The resort is very well maintained - landscaping is beautiful, the pool is nice (although we never used it) and the barbeque area was quite handy. It was easy to get in and out of the coded gate and we always were able to find parking - we had two cars so had to use a visitor spot. It was great to be away from Kona town but yet not so far away that it was a problem to go for a quick lunch. We loved being so close to a great snorkel beach (about 0.5 miles) and a beautiful sand beach for bogey boarding. The very only complaint I would have about this place is even though the is a shopping center nearby, the grocery store there is not very good. We always used the Safeway on Henry. But this is no fault of the resort. Loved it, would go back again and again!

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We loved everything about the Surf & Racquet Club. We stayed in condo 1-203, which was spacious, clean and extremely well-stocked. Beautiful ocean view, and we loved falling asleep to the sound of the surf. The location is great: close to Kona dining and shops but far enough away from the traffic and hubbub. Pop in to the market just up the street and get a bottle of wine to enjoy on the large lanai.

“Perfect”

We had an amazing two weeks at the Keahou-Kona Surf & Racquet Club (oceanfront condo 1-304, through VRBO). We had a beautiful, 3-bedroom, 3-bath oceanfront condo (inc. a twin-bed, full bathroom loft) . Fully-equipped kitchen -- with more kitchen gear than I have at home :-) -- and great location. We saw humpback whales many times from the lanai, tide pool just steps away, stores a few blocks away (including a grocery store, drug store, weekly market, manta ray dive operation, and restaurants), and the best snorkeling on the island (at Kahaluu Beach Park) a short half-mile walk to the north. Coffee farm tours and kayaking/snorkeling at Captain Cook <25 min. Mauna Kea resort area ~45 min. Volcanoes National Park ~3 hrs. Individual units might vary, but our stay was perfect in every way.
