“Perfect getaway”

We stayed with another couple. Clean, spacious, relaxing condo. Kitchen had everything we really needed, plenty of towels, comfortable beds in quiet bedrooms with separate baths. Spent hours on the large lanai overlooking the grounds, with ocean visible in the distance. Beautifully laid out, beautiful landscaping. Pool very nearby with volcano-esque hot tub (additional pool area higher up). BBQs right near us. Only 15-20 minute walk into Kona town. Wish we'd had more than a week!

Room Tip: We loved our upstairs condo (16A). Wouldn't choose a location overlooking lower pool area unle...

“Nice place”

This place is a good place to stay at. It's nothing fancy, but I have no complaints about it. The pool area was very nice. We stayed in a two bedroom unit. Everything was good about it.

“Scenic but Mediocre Service, and Obnoxious Sales Pitches.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

The Kailua area is not my favorite part of the island, but this resort is certainly nicely designed with attractive units. Aside from that, the service is insincere, affected, and mediocre to obnoxious with relentless sales pitches. Not only is it difficult to avoid the repeated requests to join the Wyndham time share, which is referred to as a "welcome package" from the start (which took an hour to politely decline), for every question asked, even asking for the closest beach, the response was "attend our morning orientation". The orientation provided two sentences worth of useful travel information but was otherwise an ongoing sales pitch for other packaged activities provided by Wyndham or their associates at an additional charge.

Otherwise, the hot tub would fail within minutes of use each evening, and after returning to the unit to report the power failure to the front desk, it would be a considerable amount of time before someone showed up to turn the circuit back on. The staff seemed to make little effort to retrieve an item left in one of the units, even after describing exactly where it was located--they exclaimed they simply couldn't find it.

Compared to other resorts we have stayed at the shady, used-car-salesman-style service is enough to deserve a poor rating.

“Heavenly Hawaii”

We are RCI members and we deposited our week to come to Hawaii. This condo was large, clean and lovely. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend others to stay at this location.

This Wyndam was located in a great spot. You need a car to truly enjoy the beauty of this island. Make sure you drive all around the island and view all the sites.

We had great breakfast at Island Lava Java and Bongo Ben's. We enjoyed the luau at the Royal Kona resort. We went on a great adventure on a Kohala ditch tour. Good sushi at Sushi Rock in Hawi. Yummy malasadas at Tex's Drive In. Drive to Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls. Get up early and request a beach pass so you can access a private beach near the Four Seasons Hotel. Totally worth it!

My favorite spot, the Pololu Valley Lookout. A must see.

Room Tip: If you plan on spending a lot of time at the pool request a room near one of the pools.

“My favorite resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We (myself, my husband and two boys) stayed here from December 3-10, 2011 and just loved it! The unit is very large and so comfortable and very clean. The resort grounds are beautiful and very Hawaiian. Our unit was close to the pool and right by a barbeque grill so it couldn't be more convenient. We could see the ocean from our lanai! (We had a second floor unit) The lanai is so spacious that it holds a dining room table and chairs, a side table, and a lounge chair. We ate all our meals out there. The location is great also. It is within walking distance of town and a beach. The people who work at the resort were so helpful and friendly, we felt like we were leaving friends when we left. They have alot of activities for families, like lei making and my boys took part in the ukelele lessons (which were free). They have different parties and entertainment throughout the week. One night at the pool they had Hawaiian music and hula dancing. The pool and pool area were beautiful and the hot tub had a sand bottom, which was nice. Also since there are two pools, the pool was never crowded. There were times when we were the only ones there. We had a wonderful time here and we will definitely stay here again when we return to the Big Island!

Room Tip: You cannot see the ocean from all units and it is in the distance if you do. We had a second floor...
