We spent a week during the Christmas holidays at this 2 bdrm/2 bath condo and were overall pleased with it. We rented from the owner via http://www.vrbo.com/336199. A few pros and cons:
Pros: AMAZING ocean view - the lanai was directly on the ocean and you couldn't ask for a more spectacular view. The crashing sound of the waves lulled us to sleep in the living room (more on that in the cons); nice size and perfect configuration for our family of 4 with the 2nd bedroom having 2 twins for our kids; very useful to have a full kitchen, washer/dryer, free shared internet; (long) walking distance to the village of Kailua-Kona and centrally located as long as you have a car; plentiful free parking. Nice looking communal BBQ and eating area and pool/hot tub, which we didn't use. The price ($185/night+cleaning, tax) was very reasonable given the time of year. Pictures on the VRBO link are accurate.
Cons: the 2 bedrooms faced the parking lot and the neighbouring condo village. Despite a 10pm quiet time, most nights people were outside in their communal area enjoying themselves - they weren't particularly loud but we could hear every word (or musical note) while we were trying to sleep. The parking lot/exterior building lights shone brightly into the windows which didn't have any coverings other than frosted glass slats (hence why my husband and I ended up sleeping on the living room pullout). The hot water situation was very limited, especially when you have a teenager used to extravagantly long showers. As I've seen mentioned in various places, there were little tiny ants that would congregate on the kitchen counters - not too many but definitely present. This is more a general issue in the area than a specific issue with this unit - just be aware.
All in all, we were pleased with this choice, especially as it was near family we were visiting. Since the adults had the living room pullout option, we were able to sleep while enjoying the sound of the ocean.
Note that Sea Village is not on a beach - it's a fairly stiff descent to lava rock oceanside which could be dangerous. We saw a few people swimming off this area but I would NOT at all recommend it for safety reasons. There were times when huge waves would crash over the first retaining wall and hit the second one and it looked like there was a pretty strong current and undertow by the shoreline.
Room Tip: Unit 4213 had an unparalleled ocean front lanai although some noise issues in the bedrooms from the...
