We stayed at this time share at an excellent price because my boss owns 3 months at this time share. it's not fancy, but it has everything you need (fully stocked kitchen), large bedroom, decent sized bathroom, and living area which is separated from the living area with a screen. It's right in the heart of the action on Kailua. There are several restaurants on Alii Drive, and there is a snorkel rental place across the street.
You HAVE to drive to the Hilton at night to see the large manta rays feeding on plancton at night. There's a nice bar close to the deck overlooking the water. There's good lights overlooking the water to see the manta rays really well.
You also have to make it to Black Sand Beach and stop at Punaluu Bakery for a Passion Fruit masala. You won't regret it! Beware they charge extra for air conditioning. I believe it's under $10 per day.
Plan a lot of time for driving as there are no major highways, and the road are windy. We went to Hilo at an awesome time since they had not had rain for several days, so it was absolutely breath taking and beautiful. We recommend the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden over the World Botanical Garden. The only thing the World Botanical Garden had going for it was Uma Uma Falls. However, Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is like walking around paradise. You will hike a lot, but it is stunning.
We loved Orchid Thai Restaurant and Kona Brewing Company for eating. As a matter of fact, we went to both twice because we liked it so much. Captain Cook's pizza is to die for and the Thom Kha soup was the best I've ever had.
