“Never again”

We have been going to Casa de Emdeko for the past 6 or more years and our last two experiences have been a disaster. The complex is getting old and a lot of maintenance is needed. However, we didn't expect to spend our three week-vacation listening to power generators, drills, power saws, hammers pounding and finally, workman crowding out our lanai with scaffolding and ladders. Last year it was jackhammers tearing up the outside tile walkways. The last two units needed to be updated, smelled of mold, appliances not working, etc. We will be looking for a new unit next year.

“DO NOT stay in unit #225”

Complex overall is pretty good, but our specific unit (#225) was absolutely horrible. The unit had a very strong mildew smell and black mold growing on the bathroom ceiling. The entire unit needs to be updated and have a thorough cleaning. We left earlier than planned due to the poor condition. DO NOT stay in unit #225.

“Loved our stay in 327!”

Wow - I have stayed in many a rental condo but this one was one of the best. Building is older, and units seem to vary, but 327 has been updated and renovated with all the necessities and then some. Owners thought of everything - extra towels and sunblock, detailed tourist guides, trash bags, snorkel gear - it was all there. Grounds are beautiful and the feel is quiet and relaxed thanks to off-street parking and tucked away location. Laundry on site plus fresh and salt water pools and man made beach area above rocky coast. Stunning sunset views! Community cabana with grills and tiki torches are a plus. Excellent proximity to downtown Kona and all the shops and amazing snorkeling nearby at Kahalu'u Beach Park - sea turtles and manta rays! We loved this stay. As a caution, it seemed to be for sale so new owners may bring changes, but condo really was up to date.

Room Tip: Unit 327 is amazing

“Oh what a place !!!!!”

We stayed in Kona Awesome condo #125 had enjoyed ourselves. The condo came with many extras. We especially appreciated the beach chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach towels and coolers. The condo was everything that you would want for a great vacation home. The bed was softer than I am used to but I had no problem sleeping after spending yet another amazing day on the Big Island.
RachelleA75 gave a great review of the facility, I concur!!!!
It is a 2.5 hour drive to the Volcano Park and 2.5 hours to Hilo and 45 minutes to a great white sand beach (at Mauna Kea).
If you are lucky enough to be able to go to the Big Island, Casa de Emdeko will be a great choice and I recommend KonaAwesome Condo!!!! I hope to be able to return and soon.

Room Tip: first floor will give you easy access to the pools and common areas

“Hated to leave”

Stayed in unit 327. Well-furnished and up-to-date (unless you want an HDTV, but... it's Hawaii. Go outside.)

Had a lovely view of the ocean from the lanai and you can choose from among a pool, salt-water pool and a sand beach (elevated above the rocky coastline) to lay out. Easy to drive into Kailua-Kona and an amazing beach to snorkel is about 3 miles south. Plenty of parking and felt very secure. Laundry facility is large and a huge help for a long trip. If you stay here and have some quarters, you do NOT need to pack an outfit for every day. The unit had laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets.

Nice outdoor courtyard lit with torches at night. So laid back... no riff-raff. Just you, the ocean and the palms.

Room Tip: Only stayed in 327. Check on other units... they are not all equal!
