“Wonderful condo near everything”

We were very pleased with the Kona Coast Resort. Although we arrived very late due to delays in airline, the reception staff was friendly and helpful. We asked for the new phase as suggested by other tripadvisor comments and were given a lovely one bedroom condo facing the golf course. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The resort amenities are great. Only one small issue was that it was a little difficult to find the check-in office as it is located near the back of the complex. We would definitely stay here again. The location was perfect - quiet but near enough to the heart of Kona's action.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in phase 2, the newest section.

“everything is great”

My wife and I stayed three nights here in early January for the first time. We had great experience and absolutely happy with everything. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is great, close to downtown (5 mins drive) but also very quiet. Close to beaches and a mall, shopping is very convenient. Room is very spacious. The one-bedroom suite we stayed at is about 1,500 sqf with two full bathrooms. There is also a full kitchen as well as washer and dryer. Our king bed is comfy and night time is quiet and we had great sleep everynight. Our balcony is facing the resort's beautiful golf course. Parking and in-room wi-fi is also included. We got this suite at a very low price through my priceline bidding. We definitely would stay here again in the future.

“Clean, quiet resort”

After spending time on the Hilo side of the island, we returned for 2 nights to the Kona side. The Kona Coast resort was a very clean, well furnished and spacious condo for our family of four. The location was perfect with a grocery nearby but off the road and very quiet. The sleeper sofa was uncomfortable so I would recommend that, depending on family dynamics and ages, a 2 bedroom condo be reserved. We enjoyed using the BBQ one evening. All staff were very friendly and provided quick service. Other facilities, including the pool and fitness room, seemed well taken care of and satisfied our needs.

“nice, laid-back resort”

We enjoyed the Kona Coast Resort for a 1 week stay, in Dec 2011. The best part of the resort was the view from our unit, which looked straight out at the Pacific Ocean! The unit decor was a bit dated & the painted tiles were a little weird, but it was clean & quite big for a 1-bedroom unit. They asked if we wanted to pay for the air-conditioning - I declined & said I would see if we needed it & the front desk staff was just fine with that. I can appreciate that they prefer people not use it unless absolutely necessary, as the cost of electricity must be so high on an island in the middle of the ocean! It turned out we did not need it in our unit at all. Our unit was on the first floor, so with the 2 units above us, keeping curtains/blinds closed during the day & the large covered lanai, the sun did not ever get a chance to heat up our unit. When we were in the unit in the evenings we would open the doors & windows & a lovely breeze flowed right through! The only "concern" I could voice relates to a particular Activity Desk staff member - can't remember the name of person who assisted us, but I thought she had a bit of an attitude & considering that tourism is her "bread & butter" so to speak, we weren't terribly impressed. Overall, we had a lovely stay!

“Little Home in Paradise”

Not that this property needs yet another review, but what the heck! This was our first time staying in a more condo like property, and we were so glad we did! The furnishings were lovely and the kitchen was well equipped, but the best part was having our own washer and dryer and being able to go home with mostly clean clothes! The property was great. It wasn't right on a beach, but we knew that going in, and beaches are pretty hard to come by associated with hotels on The Big Island. The lady on the phone told me they were super close to one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island, and I figured she was just saying that for promotion, but I did alot of research, and it was actually true! We snorkeled in a few places, and this one was the best in my opinion! We also used and enjoyed the rental services and thought they were very reasonably priced. I was also super impressed with the little herb gardens growing throughout the property. I picked some fresh basil one morning and took it to our unit to put in an omelet - yum! The restaurant gets mixed reviews from us. We did not use it much, but for the small amount we did get, my husband thought the quality was good, but I thought it was really mediocre. We only had a couple small disappointments. The room definitely had a musty odor, but I am guessing that is hard to get away from in the humidity. The other issue we had was that they were redoing the surface around the main pool for several days and had areas taped off you weren't supposed to walk on. This is really hard to convey to young children. Part of the time it was taped off so you couldn't even get to the kiddie pool! I understand they have to do this at some point, but I wish they had maybe opened the adult only pool to kids during that time. That may cause more trouble than it is worth I guess, but it was just really inconvenient. Maybe they could let people know when booking so they can choose a different week if that is important to them. Other than that, we loved our stay. We were out and about almost every day and it was amazing to have such a spacious place to come back to that felt like home.

Room Tip: One of the pools is adults only, so if you have kids, make sure you get near the all ages pool.
