Back when this hotel was built, it was extremely impressive. Great location, architecture, and furnishings. Well, it appears that things need to be up-dated. It is a good value and really adequate. Our only complaint was the somewhat noisy AC, but the weather allowed us to cool the room when we were out and it stayed cool for sleeping. Our room, 360, was in the tower that faced the lagoon. It was a pretty location. I liked the sliding louvered doors/shutters but did not like that the lanais were not securely separated so we had to keep the outside doors locked. The bar and pool were pretty and being right on the ocean edge was wonderful. Located near the bustling tourist strip it was convenient to fun shopping and restaurants. The luau was something that everyone should experience. I think you could enjoy the show from the pool area and the food was nothing that I would want to do again. But we had to go to a luau at least once. All in all, this was a good place to stay. I would have liked to have had one more day in Kauai and one less on the Big Island!
